BTW, The Black Dahlia Murder, as someone else mentioned, is another nice melodeath band, especially their earlier stuff (especiallly the eps).

Disturbed get a pass from me because they at least actually succeed at being edgy. They aren't good, but they don't come off to me as really lame. Of course, I have no idea what's happened since The Sickness (nor do I care).

You got to be kidding me! What about that part of the song Down With The Sickness when the vocalist is going "NO MUMMY, DON'T HIT ME, I'LL BE A GOOD BOY! OW! IT HURTS! STOP IT!".....you don't call that being lame?

Uh...don't remember that. I don't think I bothered listening to the whole album - I don't like their music, but I give them a pass because they're good at what they do and struck me as genuinely edgy. But perhaps I'm wrong...

They're metalcore.

This is very far from being true. While they have similarities to some deathcore bands, especially As Blood Runs Black, they are definitely melodic death metal.

The vocals - vary between gutterals and shrieks.
The drums - blast beats, pretty much
The guitars - death metal riffs and tremelo picked melodies

There's some influence from metalcore, but mostly it's just ATG worship at its best.
