During the whole band/genre list, Opeth was placed in stoner metal. What in gods name, am i missing something?

The guy, tho he seems to be a nice guy, seems to lack some know-how in more rescent metal. I base that fact upon him enjoying Children of Bodom so much.

well i guess opeth are hard to classify, and i guess when your setting up genres opeth have to go somewhere, and maybe he doesn't know much about them, which is fair i suppose, you can't know everything about every band

i just saw global metal today, it was awesome, i highly reccomend it to anyone who liked metal: a headbangers journey

I noticed that and I was WTF !!! and yeah Isolation_years, i agree that Opeth has their unique style but at lease Sam could classify them in the way Opeth does, Progressive Death Metal, and for me, this band is a " Sub-genre" itself lol ! i can find everything in Opeth, that's what makes me addicted to it

I saw Headbangers Journey a while ago and I agree, Sam seems like an o.k. guy. However, there is no way you can put Opeth in the same genre as bands like Kyuss and C.O.C. and such. While I listen to a lot of "stoner rock", these bands don't even come close to approaching Opeth let alone sound similar.

As another more famous Sam said: "...they're not even the same f!@king sport".

Maybe Sam was drinking or stoned when he showed that...

That's not the only mistake he makes...just take a look at the "swedish death metal" group he came up with. Soilwork, in flames, dark tranquility...

I think that theres a revised version of the metal tree in the bonus disc of the dvd version. He put opeth under Goth metal if im right...still wrong lol. Nobody's perfect.

I coulda sworn it was GOTHIC METAL for opeth......either wAY....what an entertaining doc......i enjoyed it......recorded it on my DVR...adn watched it again a coupel of times......good stuff......i likes how open/cool/down to earth Mr. Dio was....what a legend......PEAC EOUT

i think I'm going to watch the black metal documentary on Gorgoroth tonight.. Headbangers Journey is rather amusing in parts. I think-because the interviewer doesn't know what he is talking about, and asks some weird questions.
