Metal Church

Are You Morbid?
I just picked up the first Metal Church album with David Wayne on it.

Wow. Should have bought this one a long time ago. I also pulled out Flotsam and Jetsam's No Place for Disgrace from my drawer.

Shit. It's not nostalgia as much as it is seeing how much metal has turned to shit with the good bands going way underground.

But the first MC album is amazing.

Some people look back at thrash being dead. I say that's shit. Good music is fucking timeless and this is a perfect example. Plug in and record. Done. This is some evil sounding shit. In a way, it reminds me of Kind Diamond, for some reason.

I heard not so flattering things about their current work, but this is the shit.

A friend sent me Badlands with Mike Howe on vocals. I have The Human Factor already, but the previous album was badass, too. Too bad Metal Church didn't get the push they needed, but as I remember, they were very successful, nonetheless. How is great, too.

Shit, we have a thread going on wackbag, where the old school metal fans are annexing the music board for our own purposes.

I loved that Metal Church stuff, and Flotsam and Jetsam etc. I bought the latest Death Angel release "The Art of Dying", and it was like a breath of fresh air - fits easily alongside their old stuff without sounding dated or doing gay things like downtuning so low that their strings flap, or changing vocal style to a Death Metal got-a-poo-stuck-grunt (<cough> yes Testament, I mean you! <cough>). Well worth buying - sounds great pounding out of my Jaguar stereo, cruising along thinking that it's not all history yet.
