First of all. Great news. This 'tekno' guy is having a party today,
and he just called me. He told me to bring some really heavy shit
over... I was like ????? Wtf!! Are u mad or just insane??
Well, it seems like my previous efforts have done something at
least. I'm bringing stuff like Opeth, Death, Morbid Angel and
Vintersorg of course...and then some! (but I will watch my albums carefully)

Question:
Metal is not always the best stuff to play at parties with lots of
different ppl. I have lots of stories and thoughts around this...
How about you ppl? Any cool stories? Any opinions about party-music?
( I bet there is :D )

Normally the parties I go to are not at all Metal parties...so I have to adapt the general music taste a little bit...but I always try to indoctrinate these parties with stuff like Gothic Rock etc. ...and when all are drunk I'll put out some Death Meatal, hehe..;)
..but I'm open-minded enough to endure other styles of music as well..

Well... The few times I go to parties that is dominated by ppl listening to other stuff than metal, and not beeing tolerable against it, I tend to always bring some CD´s with me, eventho they only gets played for a couple of songs... I can´t get happy without at least a few metal songs when I am drunk...:D

But most of the time the parties are at my place, so, well... the music choice really ain´t an issue...:D

Did someone said party? *Morg gets the beer in*

I usually go to parties where metal rulez, cause most of my friends are into metal just like me. On those parties there will be all kind of metal be played and if not metal then it is at least rock or folk... :)

Back in my Hometown in Newfoundland, the parties were great. There are a number of unwritten requirements:

Ac/DC
Old Metallica
Pantera
Country/rock
An acoustic guitar
Elec guitar and amp

Our parties usually involve a mix of cd's, people jamming on guitar, and singing loudly off key to old metal/rock tunes! Good times:)

AMEN! That's why I always have a metal vor-vorspiel if I'm going to a bigger party :D

@Morg - cool to have metal friends. I used to have that where I used to live

(I am on the roll here, ppl! Wine is tasting gooood! :) )

Yeap, I'm lucky having nice friends who listen to the same music as I, well most times... ask Gaunerin, hehehe, we celebrated two New Years Eves together... :)

Only when I'm with the family, then there is no metal, but my brother in law is a metal head as well, so if I'm at my sis' home then... :p

*Morg passes beer over to Iceheart*

well in the summer all the parties i go to are outside, then perhaps me and my friends will sing some common songs which become louder and more out of tune the more beer there is ;)

when the parties are inside it's usually some boring and vapid rocks that's choosen by the owner of the flat, not much to argue about there, but i try to do as iceheart, burn some of my favourite songs on a cd-r and play when people are drunk enough :)
but i don't think metal is a favourable choide of music when it comes to parties.
at least for me, metal is not music that you have in the background, for metal to work on a party i think you have to gather some like-minded friends and sit down with a beer and just let the music flow while you are silent.

At the parties I go to, techno and/or nu-metal gets played. I don't bother trying to play other kinds music, if they haven't heard it on the radio or MTV, they don't want to hear it. I'm usually to busy talking to people and getting drunk anyway to pay attention to whats being played. But maybe it's time I found new friends, ones with good taste in music.

Natalie you get drunk!!!!? How dare you! Im jk...

All I have to say a party is not a party, til AC/DC's "Back in Black" gets pumped on the stereo! I hate AC/DC yet when Im at a party I cant get enough of them hehe

I never been to a party before. Don't have friends and my bro's friends neither tell or invite me when they throw parties. I probably would want to go to their parties anyway because they're huge fans of rap and r&b "booty" music, which I despise with all my heart.

How are they like? I've always been curious.

I rarely go to parties and the ones I've been to involve my friends so we always listen to metal... The other ones have your typical trendy commercial dj mendez-like rubbish which doesn't bother me 'cause i move to some corner with my friends to chat so i can't hear it.

Well if I went to parties, they probably wouldn't have metal being played, heh. I took some metal to some parties, and sometimes a little gets played which is cool.
