Vintersorg is NOT black metal

i laughed hard at this
and black metal is more of an ideology than anything else. its the purest form of hatred and evil in music. the sound is usually more raw and unclean. my personal fav is darkthrone. they are great and have never disappointed

though older Darkthrone songs are well produced But that they move back to the roots is a great step. And the Ravishing Grimness was a great album. this is how I'd define Black Metal, too. Don't think of Marduk or bands like them... they're (or were, newer stuff is ok) really riding on that prejudices like satanic or racistic music.
well most black metal is racist. although im not a fan of that, but thats just how a lot of it is. and ravishing grimness is a good album, but probably their worst. kinda mediocre compared to some of their other stuff. my personal fav is a blaze in the northern sky, fuckin classic.
they actually started out with bad production if you considered their stuff previous to soulside...

Oh, cut it out, guys! Whatever Vintersorg ( the band ) really is, it is awesome. Oh yeah, and Vintersorg ( the man ) is GENIUS! He plays/sings in so many bands and wherever he plays, he plays PERFECT!

Darkthrone is really kickass black metal. Also Soulside Journey is good death metal. My personal favorites are A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Transilvanian Hunger. Can't decide between these two.
Though he sings with a black metal voice sometimes, I do not consider Vintersorg as black metal. I'v heard both Dimmu Borgir and Mayhem, and Vintersorg is nothing like that! NOTHING!!!
I would disagree with you there, some BM bands do take great pride in thier Heritage, but this is not Racism. And sure some BM musicians could very well be racist, but please do not put a label like that on Black Metal.
Anyway........
The beauty of Vintersorg is they take some pieces of Black Metal and incorporate it into their style. This is what makes this band so appealing to me (being a fan of Black Metal), that they can produce breathtaking pieces of music that can Lull you into a daydream, and then wake you with soaring melody, and crushing riffs.

its a known fact that most of the true black metal bands dont want anyone but whites playing this style of music.
most of the true black metal bands arnt into their viking heritage. the gaunlets and face paint comes more from an evil side than a heritage side. but some bands definately include heritage to a lot of their music.

Which is one of the reasons why me being half-ecuadorian, I'm always wary of when someone reccomends a BM band. Sure I *look* like a Scot or one of those redhaired Vikings (I know there had to be some), but it's what's *inside* that counts.
It's a bit disconcerting seeing some bands like that hating races of humans, when they aught to be hating the species as a whole.

Black metal is more about hating the whole species than hating skin colors. Some artists have forgotten that, some haven't.
I don't know anything about that (well Burzum and Bethlehem I guess), but regardless, the War on Christianity rages forever on!

If you're curious, you can do a google.com search for "National Socialist Black Metal" or NSBM. The fact that there's actually an organization and record labels devoted to Neo-Nazi Black Metal is probably what Gorgasmic Plague is getting at when he talks about "true black metalers." That kind of nazi proliferation isn't as prevelant in genres like Death or Doom, for example.
But yeah, I know there are non-nazi blackmetal bands... I would just like to know who more of them are, ya know?

I recommend Emperor, Satyricon, Marduk, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Abigor, Ancient, and Diabolical Masquerade as some of my favorite BM bands. I have no reason to believe any of those bands are involved in racist stuff. I will go look at the website you have specified for more info. Thanks Drexle

some of what you listed as your fav.s are racist. not outright anymore, but they used to be that way.
you should read the book Lords Of Chaos. it documents european black metal.
i personally have no respect for racism, i just like the music
