I vote for Sweden, half is of national pride but also because we have the best bands.

Because foe me while the US have lots and lots of great bands (more than any country I presume) from Queensryche to Nocturnus to Saint Vitus etc. Of my absolut favorites only Fates Warning are from the states while Sweden got Bathory, Candlemass, Dismember and Katatonia.

USA wins comfortably for me. if i was gonna make, say, a top 25 from the two countries i could see as many as 21 being american. they'd definitely have a big majority.

I prefer Saint Vitus by quite a margin, though I don't think Saint Vitus did anything as good as Epicus Doomicus Metallicus.
Candlemass are really inconsistent, Saint Vitus are the definition of consistent.
