Metal World Cup

Dio does not beat Alice, sorry, and I say that as one of the biggest Dio fans you'll ever meet.

Dio is the pinnacle of traditional heavy metal

Venom had influences on the creation of thrash but was not thrash. No one is like "who's your favorite thrash band?" "Venom" lol. Thrash began with Metallica and slayer. Same year as venom's first anyway.

 Keep telling yourself that.
You constantly tout others as "sheep" for having certain opinions, asserting it fervently. You seem to be incognizant that you may very well be slave to your own dogma and opinions. You're like the man who lives under the weight of his own rock while shouting down others as ignoramuses for not seeing the incomparable genius of your own living situation. Instead of providing argumentation, you just hipsterishly dismiss other's opinions as mainstream or sheepish.

Dio is a top 10 trad band, and a top 5 power band, but the pinnnacle of trad? No. Alice arguably had equal if not more stylistic influences on metal than Judas Priest, from the makeup to the gender bending. Venom's early demos seem to be the birth of thrash.

Welcome and onward, he's metal. Excluding his art rock and new wave stuff of course. That's just an obvious example I gave for the sake of its obviousness.

I'd prefer an example from a year that would make him relevant to this topic though, because not only is heavy metal established by 1987, so is black metal, death metal, thrash metal, pretty much every subgenre.

The Black Widow is certainly a metal song. I'd say thanks to his 80's and 90's metal records, combined with his roots deep influence on the genre, put him there.

 It's so much fun to watch the sheep bleat.

Metallica also, the whole Bay Area thrash scene like testament and so on, the Florida death metal scene (obituary, atheist, morbid angel...) socal thrash (which isn't mentioned as much but there are so many good bands, slayer and dark angel for example). The big names in progressive metal from dream theater to symphony x to queensryche.

Tons of innovation here for better or worse. Hollywood glam metal, Texas groove metal, Seattle grunge etc.

The problem is some of those things, i.e. glam and groove, suck. Simply developing a new style in and of itself isn't an accomplishment. The new style needs to contribute something worthwhile to the genre. I think those various abominations have to count against the US to some degree. That said, you're overall point is taken. The US has consistently produced for 30+ years.

Sweden vs. Norway
United Kingdom vs. USA

Glam metal is better, more artistic, and more relevant than black metal. Objective fact.

American black metal (Slayer, early Exodus, etc) is better than Norwegian black metal anyways.
