Why do people feel the need to make stuff up like that?

ps: sorry from going off topic from anything relevant in this thread. it seemed like a good place to toss that in.

I think it's cool that this thread has a progression of conversations :) Plus it's a place for the METALBABES to hang out

I think that whoever told that guy about this SuperTour was misinformed or had no idea what the hell he was talking about. I doubt that this tour would be happeneing anytime soon, if at all, mostly because Dream Theater just finished a tour, Iced Earth toured earlier this year (duh!) and someone at the show inChicago told me John Schaeffer is ditching the BG/SX tour after last night because they got some recording time *shrugs* maybe that's true, maybe it's not.. and Iron Maiden.. well.. they don't need a reason to tour, they can do whatever the hell they feel like :tickled: Have you researched to see if this tour is "in the works" ?

No not really. All that has been announced as far as I can tell is a Maiden world tour next year. Has Shaffer been at all the shows on the tour to announce BG so far? I assumed by the reaction he got it was like a special thing.

He announced at PP3 (obviously), but he wasn't visible at either of the DC shows. I didn't really look around for him, but I didn't see him with BG when I talked to Hansi before the show, and I didn't notice him after the show, but I was talking to Russ then.

The only time I saw Schaeffer Saturday night in Chicago was when he announced BG. He wasn't at the signing, or hanging out with SX afterwards or anything else that I saw. I assumed that if he was with them in Chi-town that would mean he has been with them since PP3. I don't know for sure...

It wouldn't surprise me that Schaeffer was riding along on the tour since he and Hansi are good friends. Of course, I have no idea where in America he lives, so he may just be hitting certain shows. Regardless, it was really cool to meet him at PP3. He was having a pretty good time with us backstage during BG's set. :)

I didn't get to meet him at PP3 :erk: I can't remember when is signing session was, but I know that the line would have too long and I'd end up missing part of a band that I wanted to see.. I saw him walking around once and I was going to ask him for a picture. He was swamped with fans every few steps so I debated it because it was obvious he was heading somewhere. Just as he got done with some fans, I looked down to wind my camera, looked back up, and he had disappeared through the backstage door  Oh well.. It was cool enough to see that he was patient and nice to all the fans that appraoched him :D

The best time to catch him (and BG, for that matter) was during the Thursday night pre-show party. He spent the entire evening by the bar with Hansi and the others. While they were swamped with fans, they seemed eager to talk to everyone at length. When I left at 2:30, Schaeffer was having a grand ol' time with the few people still there. I heard that he stayed there all night and got kicked out when the club closed at 4am. :) As approachable as he was, I'm sorry that I never got a pic with him, either.

By the way, Jon Schaffer lives in Indianapolis. So he was just a few hours from Chicago, he could have driven there himself.

Kiss Army.. that brings back some memories (the band, not the website you were talking about). But I chatted with someone named Kiss ARmy in IRC ages ago... in an #80smetal/music room.
That sounds like a longshot ot me... but, as you say, ya never know. My old IRC name was shArk_13.. then later Creeps.
