METALCORE anyone?

and what would you classify botch as?

Yeah we're obsiouly not talking Metal-Core as KSE and other boring bands . Hear We are the Romans : amazing songwriting , highly inventive structures , unorthodox guitar and drum patterns , yet it's cohesive .They somehow contributed and invented modern hardcore along with Converge and some other bands (I'm no specialist here) . The Dillinger Escape Plan and the followers come from there. American Nervoso was released in 1998.

I like lamb of god, the black dahlia murder, The haunted, and Killswitch engage was good untill they got their new singer... But i have no problem with this genre, I dont see why others get bashed for liking it. Especially if they like other good metal.

I can appreciate some metalcore, I just don't care for the metalcore scene/mentality.It reminds me too much of straight edge.QUOTE]

I hate straight edge. If you don't want to drink or whatever fine, same here. but shut the fuck up about it...

Right on. I don't understand why these people can't just do what my nephew does and treat the whole thing as a personal decision to abstain instead of some major componet of their ego-identity;Then again, that rant was for another thread-LOL.

Nasum is grindcore? Lamb of God is metalcore? Fuck! I wish the industry and the metal press would just shove all of these subgenres up their asses.

What's so different then preaching about Satan or anything like that?

I don't think straight edge is any different then black metal or most music that has lyrics. Lyrics will attract different kind of people...preaching about Satan or religion is not really different to me. Singing about evil things or how evil drugs/alcool is is equally annoying to me. To me it's almost a good thing when I can't understand the lyrics as most of them really suck. Maybe all music should be instrumental? :p

I have yet to see those who "Preach about Satan" as you put it, going out of their way to injure and maim people at shows. Being vocal about your beliefs is one thing-being a goddamned facist thug and shoving them down everybody's throat is another.

Like it or not, Satan, Sex, Drugs, Alchohol, Rebellion-these are all traditional themes in all forms of rock music.Being a straight edge, Bush supporting goose stepper isn't.

So when you agree with a band's beliefs it's ok to have lyrics about it...but not when you think it's not cool? Gotta love double standards.

Straight edgers who beat up people are stupid. Black metal kids who commit suicide because the music said it are stupid. A lot of people are stupid...but I still don't get why straight edge message bothers you that much and Satan, Sex, Drugs, Alcohol and Rebellion doesnt.

And in case you didn't notice I'm not partial towards one or the other...I'm just trying to see why you think straight edge message is that different from anythign else.

I'm happy with death metal...most of the time I can't get what they say and it's all fine with me. ;)

The Red Chord (Fused... especially)
Between the Buried and Me
Despised Icon
Buried Inside (only heard Chronoclast, not even sure if it is metalcore, seems like some sort of post-hardcore)

I never said you were partial to the straight edge scene, And I would agree that suicide is stupid. The reason why the straight edge thing and the christian bullshit bothers me is because of the simple fact that it isn't consistent with what Metal is supposed to be about by most anyone's standards.Again, you may not like it, but there are things that go well together and things that simply do not.

I need really good metalcore like the black dahlia murder, ares letum, conducting from the grave, some all that remains, god forbid (some), etc.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't say they're the same as KSE and that crap, but I usually see them classified as metal-core. But bottom line, they left us with some fucking great music.

it's cool whatever anyone is into but for me, I prefer my metal and hardcore as 2 seprate genres.I'm not into many new bands at all.

I don't care who says it or how many times it is said, Black Dhalia Murder IS NOT METALCORE!

How would you define them? I never really got into them much and what I heard sounded a little more like melodic death metal to me-I dunno.I've never really thought of God forbid as a metalcore band either-like I said before-stupid genres.

They are, just as you thought, melodic death metal.

Between the Buried and Me is one of the best bands out right now, and theyre metalcore. Converge is awesome too.

The first Lamb of God album was excellent, but they went seriously downhill after that.
