Metalcore

The local bands all suck here. My high school has a ton of local overrated metalcore bands that site Dissection and As I Lay Dying has their favorite bands. It is a tad bit insane. Talented players though.

lol I suppose that's your opinion, but all the bands you listed are either really generic, or just complete crap. The Fall of Troy at least have their own sound.

beneath the sky - in flames/at the gates ripoff
emmure - breakdown after breakdown after breakdown
haste the day - really boring christian metalcore
zao - they're ok I guess, but nothing special
arise and ruin - these guys are just terrible...I saw them open for BTBAM and The Red Chord and yeah, not worthy.

good bands, if you like 7 Angels 7 Plagues check out Misery Signals...same guys except a different singer.

Misery Signals are cool. I like the chuggy-sound combined with a melodic sound without necessarily being Gothenburg influenced.

i think it would be cool if nation of ulysses wore tight pants and had that sort of japanese/asian young urban dude spike too much gel look, cuz you know, asian people have coarse monkey hair, and cool breakdowns. and also they weren't like 40 now or whatever.

:erk: WTF? Most random post ever!

First, no that wouldn't be cool. At all.

Nation of Ulysses were perfect just how they were.

caliban
heaven shall burn
as blood runs black
through the eyes of the dead
The Acacia Strain
Overkill(not sure if metalcore or not)
A Life Once Lost(not amazing but i like em)

I heard them and it was just awful. Terrible vocals, and impenetrable songwriting.

You people are just way to hard on this band.

I can see criticizing their song structures, in that they don't really have any structure. More like a series of 'parts' strung together (but the same thing can be said about a lot of metal).

The vocals are simply an acquired taste. I've listened to enough At the Drive In and other post-hardcore that they don't bother me a bit.

Overall I really like the bands sound. Though I could do without the really _core parts. I don't think they add anything, and sound out of place for the most part.

I can see just not liking them, but they aren't "just awful".

Well for those who like Protests the Heroes music, but cant get past the vocals, there is now a instrumental version of their album 'Fortress' floating around.

Also check out this great metalcore band from France: http://www.myspace.com/yblx
