Metalcore

So today I introduced some scene kids to some good Euro-core (mainly Faust Again, Maroon, Fear My Thoughts, and As We Fight) and they dug it. I think it's rather funny how I know more than them about a genre I don't even listen to pre-dominantly. :p

You don't necessarily know more so much as know better :p

I'm telling you, Bridge To Solace is fucking awesome, and you're basically a homosexual if you don't like them. I am glad you dug The Sorrow though...I need to check out some more euro-core soon. You need to get into A Traitor Like Judas.

By the way, heard the newer Infected Malignity EP? Total melodic deathcore, really good shit surprisingly. Gonna be one of the bets MDF bands.

Will do right...now. By the way the first Infected Malignity full-length is slam death (and decent at that but Nick is a much bigger fan than I am, which is why he was sad to see them go metalcore and I was pumped )

Also glad you got into BTS. Have you heard anything other than Where Nightmares and Dreams Unite? If so, is it as good as that one?

ITE is CLEARLY influenced by some of the more brutal moments on It Dies Today's first album, which happens to have some MONSTROUS FUCKING SHIT on it. Other stuff I can hear would include a bit of HSB in the melodic chorus leads. Good shit, thanks.

A couple recommends from me:

The Broderick

http://www.myspace.com/passingindreams Sort of like 7 Angels & Plagues

http://www.myspace.com/century

http://www.myspace.com/deadwalkhc Ridiculously heavy HxCx

http://www.myspace.com/xafbx Tough Guy Straight Edge HxCx. Nothing original or anything, just really solid.

http://www.myspace.com/yblx Already threw this one out there, but here it is again because it's good.

http://www.myspace.com/knockeddawn Really cool French Deathcore

edit: http://www.myspace.com/fate The latest by this band is really good Deathcore

Infected Malignity was pretty cool (their deathcore stuff obviously) but yeah, I don't really like any brutal/slam death but for some reason I like metalcore a lot (kind of weird I guess).

It Dies Today, really? I always try and get into them (at least their first album) and the clean vocals always ruin it for me.

I feel like a total douche for admitting this, but I have been totally been digging on this band : http://www.myspace.com/blessedbyabrokenheart

They're a totally scenester christian metalcore band with this ridiculous glam metal "theme", but I find them hilariously fun.

.....god I'm a douche :erk:
Dude, I feel like a mega, mega prick for thinking this is totally rad. I actually dig this.

There are a lot of songs on it that are fucking brutal and have no clean vocals. :p First song, for example. Also, Freak Gasoline Fight Accident I believe, and The FUCKING DEPRAVITY WALTZ

Just downloaded it and so far it is pretty good. I got over the clean vocals. :p

Passing In Dreams is basically a 7 Angels 7 Plagues clone. That melodic hardcore (free of Gothenburg) sound is my favorite style within metalcore, though (see 7A7P, Misery Signals, etc.).

Seeing as in how 7A7P put out so little material, I think it's cool for there to be a clone or two out there. As long as they're competent clones.

Can anyone give me 2-3 metalcore ablums I should own? I've listened to a fair few but none have kept my attention all the way through or have been the kind of CD I will keep coming back to for more listens. Cheers.

People like to shit all over KSE, but I've yet to hear metalcore albums can can match Alive or Just Breathing in intensity or originality.

Throw in some Prayer for Cleansing and Invocation of Nehek, maybe some August Burns Red, and you're set.

7 Angels 7 Plagues - Jhazmyne's Lullaby
Maroon - When Worlds Collide
Faust Again - Hope Against Hope (but good luck finding this one)

...and V5, you are right about there being some really brutal moments on The Caitiff Choir. It almost makes the poppier moments a little out of place.
