Metalcore

No one cares what bands consider themselves, but Caliban is definitely metal-leaning. They should listen to some hardcore bands before they consider themselves hardcore though :p

I noticed people were talking about Fall Of Troy, they really are not bad at all!

Does the metalcore tag only refer to what bands like Maroon? What about real hardcore punk/ska bands like Leftover Crack that mix metal into there music? Or old school stuff like S.O.D?

Yeah Fall of Troy are great, not to mention Thomas Erak is amazing (guitarist/vocalist).
As for Leftover Crack, I consider them a hardcore punk band...maybe they'd fit in skacore, but I don't think so. Speaking of good skacore however, The Flaming Tsunamis are awesome...anyone like them?

beneath the sky
arise and ruin
emmure
zao
haste the day(older)

lol.

I've been getting way more into the abstract side of metalcore/(post-hardcore?) as of late. Particularly the likes of Converge, Starkweather, Deadguy, and 7 Angels 7 Plagues (not really abstract but certainly different).

haha wats so funny those are better bands then fall of troy so just ya
lol I suppose that's your opinion, but all the bands you listed are either really generic, or just complete crap. The Fall of Troy at least have their own sound.

beneath the sky - in flames/at the gates ripoff
emmure - breakdown after breakdown after breakdown
haste the day - really boring christian metalcore
zao - they're ok I guess, but nothing special
arise and ruin - these guys are just terrible...I saw them open for BTBAM and The Red Chord and yeah, not worthy.

good bands, if you like 7 Angels 7 Plagues check out Misery Signals...same guys except a different singer.

They are mainly progressive metalcore but yes they suck.

In what sense? I'd only say that some of their lead stuff is way too scale-driven, but overall they're pretty good at doing their own thing. A lot of people don't enjoy Rody's vocals too, but I think he has great range compared to others in the genre.

k first beneath the sky is nothing like in flames emmure is fuckin sick at breakdowns arise and ruin are not th best but good to start if ure new to metalcore and haste the day wasnt boring only after jimmy left and they made pressure the hinges

Umm you'd have to be pretty deaf not to hear the In Flames/ATG influence in Beneath The Sky, then again that's a characteristic of many metalcore bands. Emmure is not "sick at breakdowns" because they used them way too much. The only band you mentioned that was really good is The Red Chord.

did you not see i also said despized icon? which is a good band and i didnt add any others because i already in another post put as blood runs black, heaven shall burn, darkest hour, unearth, thy will be done

Your posts are often MUCH harder to read than that.

No, plus I have gotten much better ever sense the "newBLACKways."

And I was not picking on him. Just asking.

I never have fully understood if As Blood Runs Black is death metal/metalcore regardless if them being a scene band. I will say they are pretty catchy. I don't understand why Despised Icon is all that good, but I have heard some of their side-projects are pretty good.
