Metallica cover multitrack to mix

When I flipped the phase on it, the low end turned on so I guess it wasnt flipped! but nevertheless really nice recording still!!.
But it might be the SSD black sample I used that makes the snare a little britle, I will take it down a notch and reuploaded the song later!

Ok Done!

Ah that explains it haha.

And to the OP, no, the phase was not already flipped. Snare was all sizzle, flipped the phase, BOOM it had low end ;)

holy shit.

I wasn't going to download this - I don't normally mix outside my work.. but dude - this is awesome.

That dudes voice sounds like Hetfields.. totally caught me off guard.

I have been crazy busy all week.
I will try to check out the mixes over the weekend.
No drum editing on the tracks.
The snare is the Tama Lars sig. These guys had ALL the Metallica gear.
Star Classic Maple kit, ESP guitars, Mesa rectos, Fernandes Gravity bass etc.
What do you guys think of the combination of 57 and 421 on the guitar tracks.
I am really happy with it.
I usually use a ts808 but for this I used a digitech gsp1101 in front of the head for modified TS, gate, compressor and eq.
For the leads and cleans I used the preamp of the digitech too with chorus, delay and verb into the fx rtn of 6505.
I think I prefer the result to using the ts pedal. Also having the tracks gated before they hit the head made it much easier to clean up the guitar tracks and the midrange eq boost really pushed the amp better than a ts alone.
A lot of the punch of the natural drums comes from compressing the overheads on the way in with the Drawmer 1968Me.
Next week I could put up "fade to black" or "ride the lightning" files.

Let me know which you guys want.

RTL FTW!

Update. I still used all original recorded tracks and no automation or reamping. The new mix feels more "pro", glued, fuller or kick ass. I guess its because avoiding or leaving out eq based "sculpting" (or "matching" or carving holes as to make instruments "sit") and concentating more on room/space (and how these can be the eq itself) instead. Great practising material, thanks again!
