I was watching some old sepultura last night. Do i ever miss those old days. It just shows the directions bands can take. Look at Kreator they came back to the fold with Enemy of god it can be done!!!!!!!

You were watching "Siege at Barcelona"? Thats a killer vid. They were great those days. When I think what could have been. they could have grown into the biggest thrash band in Metal. Damn!! Why did they have to screw it up? :erk:

Ya they were my fav for a long time ): then it fell apart

Same here. I thought the direction they were going with 'Arise" was fantastic. I was hoping they would develop their technical thrash further but like you said, then it fell apart.

I was really bummed when I heard what came after 'Arise'. What am I saying? I am still bummed to this day!!

As good as Arise was they still had better left in them they just went in a diff (WRONG)direction. Anyway HOPE...........

Never liked Sepultura was too death for my thrash  Even so "Arise" had the most songs I dig from them but immediately they plunge into meh...sad indeed.

Kirk seemed the most normal out of the bunch to me in SKOM...
And I don't think Metallica died with AJFA, that album has some of their strongest tunes. As for 'One', sure - it has a mellow part, then goes into thrashy bashing to the end. Then again, weren't Fade To Black and Welcome Home arranged the same way? The whole difference is that they had no exposure through a video...

Just my opinion... but Fade to Black and Welcome Home as well as Orion and beginning of Battery are more complex and Thrashy sounding then One... One was far more commercial to my ears then those MOP songs were and it showed where they were heading with the next album which became Nothing Else Matters and Unforgiven (though i like them both but not for Metallica) .... both those songs were simplistic and commercial driven...

Kirk has turned into a complete doormat to Lars and Hetfield. He could leave the band and based on his fame I'm sure he could play in another. But I'm not sure at all that he has the drive or the songwriting chops or .... at this point in his career .... the raw talent to form his own band. I think all the fire is gone from Hammet's playing. He's phoning it in.

Here's a idea.. how about Kirk going back to Exodus.. a true Thrash band nowadays.. :D

I also prefer the albums up to MOP, but most of the stuff after that actually isn´t that bad IMO. It is not always negative to change the style a bit before one album sounds like the other and it get´s boring.

I have always been a huge metallica fan but there is no doubt that everything after the black albumn has sucked major ass
the reason - money? doubt it they were already fucken millionairs, i rekon maybe they got bored of the same old thing, or just different musical tastes as time moves on. Alot of bands become softer as they get older.
