Metallica

I've only heard the first single, and it was kind of ehh, but I'm probably going to buy this new one. That will make the first time I've bought a new Metallica album since 1998. I'm excited for some reason, I don't even know why.

Yea everything has been "ehhh," thus far. I'm happy for the fanboys though. I just cant justify listening to this new shit beyond a cursory glance given that I hardly replay the classics nowadays. The band grabbed my attention for a good 2yrs during my teens. Normally I tend to lead myself towards living in the past. Metallica is the exception.

I never know why I pay Metallica for CDs that aren't the first 4 albums, but whatever. Well maybe 5 because the Black Stuff was my first CD ever, and that album has aged HORRIBLY but was important to my youth. I bought the Hard Wired Thing when it came out and really do enjoy it for a rockin' good time. Silly that they made it a double album that would fit on a single disc, especially since Single Disc Load is longer by a few minutes.

Anyhow I bought that there Death Magnetic last week, and again, I don't know why. But I found a really good use for it: when you are driving a ragtop Jeep with howling mud tires, that shitty brickwalled mix really cuts through and makes for an enjoyable drivin' / rockin' experience. This is the first and last time I will ever say something positive about Volume Wars.

Addiction is some real shit. The guy has clearly been miserable inside since the late 80's, despite being incredibly rich/powerful/famous.
