Michael Romeo the guitar chapter video

This could be a great opportunity to MJR record a brand new video, but this time, on DVD. What would you people think? :D

i think that would be awesome, depending on the content of course. i'd be interested in a new guitar instructional video, but i am not a novice so i'd be more interested in advanced techniques. i already know theory, and that is something you can find on the net for free. so to reiterate i think its a stellar idea, depending on content.

Reading old threads today, in case anyone wonders why this popped up. I think the reason Romeo doesn't teach much is because the video isn't for beginners. Symphony X's guitar stuff in general isn't for beginners. Then again, the fact that he just shows off licks is the reason he doesn't like it, so maybe he does want to go through more basic stuff as well.

And yeah, I just found a copy, I'm getting it in 2 days! :D

I think that the video's a good resource as long as some sort of tablature comes with it so people who can't just spot what someone's playing without pausing the video (impossible on vcr pretty much anyway).

It didn't seem to me that he was showing off - that's more of an Yngwie kind of thing.

My opinion: If Romeo is waiting around to "do things right" for his next video, it will never get done. He just has to do it. I would be standing in line on release day for any videos from Romeo or Symphony X. I think the Guitar Chapter should be re-released - there appears to be a great demand for it. I know I would be standing in line for the video, especially on DVD. It doesn't really matter to the fans that Romeo is not satisfied with his playing or the format of the video - the fans want it and want it bad.

A friend and I asked Michael Lepond about when they might release a live DVD. He said they wanted to release one, but they didn't want to release one until they could "do it right". To me, that means, "buzz off, you'll never get a live DVD out of us". We were just thrilled to finally see them play, and we're rather sure they won't be coming back through Albuquerque ever. How else can we see them? Fly to a big show or buy a live DVD. Looks like I'd better save up my frequent flyer miles...

I'm nowhere near good enough to play any of the stuff on it, but it's awesome just to watch him play.

Get your butt into the 'shed and practice. The woodshed, that is. Perhaps it is a forgotten place in this world of nu-metal and post-grunge. We would all find a happier place in the 'shed.
