..honestly if people can't hear what a genius guitarist Eddie Van Halen is, they should go listen to the Spice Girls as that's probably their idea of talent. I'm not saying you have to like what he does of course, but along with Jimi Hendrix he has influenced more people to play guitar than anyone. Trey from Morbid Angel is a MASSIVE Van Halen fan, that should tell you something about the depth of his influence. In fact all the "early technical thrash" guys from bands like Exodus, Testament etc, were influenced by EVH.
