C'mon guys, I started this thread to appreciate Mikael's vocals, and it's turned into an In Flames bashing.

I prefer Mikael Akerfeldt ....but Stanne sure has a good set of pipes himself!

Akerfeldt is about the only vocalist I'd currently consider in the same league - his growl is lower and more menacing, but less comprehensible and less emotional than Stanne...

Akerfeldt's the best in my opinion, but Mikeal Staane's very high up there.

And I always thought Anders' was good on Skydancer. Someone just needs to tell him to stop singing as much It works for Speed, but not for him. Speaking of clean vocals, I don't mind Staane using them more like in Projector, just not overdoing them like he did on that album.

I'd say my favorite vocalists that can go from a growl to a beautiful clean voice in the blink of an eye would be but three: Stanne, Akerfeldt and Vintersorg. There are others, but these guys have time and time again proven themselves to kick ass... Even though Vintersorg continues to sing in his crazy moon language on his albums, that's cool too.

I'm not a fan of any of the "Gothenburg" bands but, on the strength of the charisma / stage presence exhibited by Stanne on this recent US mini-tour, I'll count myself among this band's supporters!

Great frontman, superior vocalist!
