MIKE's New Blog post....TEH FLOATING CASINO

i could see you live, 365 days a year, like i listen to your music 365 days a year x)

can you say, when we'll get some infos about the album? title? tracklist? album cover*ugh*?

astronaut mattsson: I hear you, I wonder how many that is not going cause of this. If it only would have been in sthlm. :(

Mike: Im glad to hear that. But you could easily sell out Klubben/Debaser Medis, or maybe even Annexet by now at least once a year, 2 years is just too long between gigs imo. Its been a long wait. :)

I´m just disturbed that the festival takes place on a boat,i hate boats:(

Come anyway. Take motion sickness tablets with you. I'll be sure to have some on me in case I see someone way green in the face. It's a HUGE boat, so it actually feels like you're in a large hotel/resort-type place. The boat is new, and has a balancing system, so even when the wind blows, the boat stabilizes itself.

Even though there are some gambling opportunities on board (like a few slot machines and maybe a blackjack table), it's by no means Vegas on water . There's a swimming pool, sauna facilities, a record convention and a little film festival featuring obscure 70's Swedish movies that used to be considered somewhat "naughty" way back when.

17 bands will be performing, not to mention the surprise guest appearances and special performances: for example Fredrik Thordendal from Mehuggah and Gustaf Hielm (ex-Meshuggah) will be performing with Mats/Morgan and they WILL be playing some Sol Niger Within. Lars Hollmer will also be guesting. Seriously, the lineup is unique, with something for everyone. Don't let something like it being on a boat put you off (especially if you live in Sweden. It's easy for us bastards! ).

As mentioned in some other thread on this board, if you're intending to attend, but don't have buddies to share a cabin with, please email info@mellotronen.com and we'll match you up with some nice fellow passengers, or if you're under 18 and wish to attend, email info@mellotronen.com and we'll try our best to match you up with someone over 18 willing to "vouch" for you, if you know what I mean.

Can't say enough how truly unique this trip is going to be. And I really do feel for those living very far away. :erk:

I don't live that far away as compared to australians or even americans, but still ... if I would live in Sweden, or Finland (I hope some day!), I would definetely be there! it's nice to see that there are still some unique and original ideas in the world today.
I envy you guys who are going :)

I think there are 2 Belgians so far attending, give or take a Belgian ...you should starve for a week or two to come on over!!! Eh. Wish I were rich so I could sponsor a few of you guys.

But, alas.

I had already started making plans for me and my girlfriend to attend, but it was just getting too expensive. We really would have loved to come, 'cause we're both "swedophiles" (if that's even a real word ;)) and it would have been the fourth time we visited Stockholm + the bill is just amazing! But alas, indeed :(

I hope they come to Belgium again! I bought tickets last time but my girlfriend broke up with me on the same day, i was devastated and spent the rest of the evening with some friends instead of going to the concert..

The boat's not expensive, not considering the number of bands and other things you can entertain yourself with. It probably gets expensive when you start adding flights and other stuff...

Like I said, wish I were filthy rich.

Titanic was state of the art too :p

If ONLY I lived in Europe, if only I had lots of money to get there, If only..

it's not only a money thing, but also a time thing :) ... and I live even closer now, in the Netherlands :p
oh well, I'll have to settle for the normal gigs. I'm used to missing these kind of events anyway, I'll live.

If you are only interested in Katatonia and Opeth and isnt very interested in casinos and swimmingpools etc it is expensive and all of a sudden not worth it for many of us.

it's nice to see that there are still some unique and original ideas in the world today.

These boat-trips are hardly original anymore.
They are becoming a fad here in sweden and i dont like it. There was this thing called "Gates of Metalbåten" last year, Sweden Rock has one planned now in feb, Close-Up has gone from a normal indoor festival to the boat-thing and will probably do it again.
It sucks.
