Funny thing is Tank Abbott used to think he was some kind of multi-dimensional scientist in the ring.

One bloke from those early years who I think is underrated is "Kimo". Really took it Royce Gracie when they squared off.

Never forget Gustafsson's first fight with him. That IMO was the day Jones got beat. But I'm also Swedish so I'm biased.

Great fight, I actually recently rewatched it, and the rematch. The controversy over this recent Jones fight is kinda dumb though, Reyes came out swinging sure and recorded more strikes than Jones, but as usual Jones controlled the pace, was more methodical and was in way better shape by the last two rounds and rightfully took the W.

Hoping for a rematch though, was an apeshit fight.

if Reyes had legit KO power Jones would have been out cold early. That being said i think Reyes took the first three round and won the fight. I definitely wouldnt say Jones controlled most of that fight when Reyes was the one who kept the pressure on him most of the time. Jones even tried to go for a few takedowns in those rounds but didn't succeed. Walking forward only to eat punches and kicks doesnt equate to controlling a fight. Jones even turned around and ran away few times. Being more methodical or being in better shape at the end of the fight doesnt really mean anything either tbh. The fight was 5 rounds, not 6, 7 etc. Most mma websites, fans and even pro fighters had Reyes winning that fight. So yeah i'd say it is without a doubt a controversial "win".

Thought the fight was okay. Not a fan of these slimmed down 6 1/2ft heavyweights who dont have legit KO power. Every time i watch one of these events i miss the old days of the sport even more.

EDIT: anyone who uses front kicks to the knee is a piece of shit imo. That's worse than the toe stomp. Straight bitch move.

I watched the fight live at a pub so I didn't hear over the telly how the judges scored the fight, I just saw Bones get his arm raised. 4-1 in favour of Jones? Man that's not the fight I watched at all, I think at a bare minimum Reyes 100% took the first 2 rounds.

yeah they gave him a 49-46 unanimous decision ....

even Dana came out and critiszed the judges by saing ... “One of the problems with Texas is that these guys don’t have a lot of big fight experience .... they have to realize what they take away from these guys, when they put people in there that, let’s just say don’t have the experience or maybe even the knowledge to be a part of these big fights"

But i honestly think Dana had something to do with this. Out of all the fighters who voiced their outrage, and i cant believe im saying this, i think Jamie Varner was the one who said it best ...
"Wow @ufc like you couldn’t seem more corrupt! Jon Jones did NOT win that fight. 3 rounds to 2, for Reyes and that can’t be argued! TRASH! You stole that from the man the earned it. Terrible!"

That's my feeling too on it. It almost feels like some kind of spell but I just can't imagine anyone beating Khabib in the game right now. Ferguson is a freak of nature and all, but Khabib is just a bulldozer. I was rewatching the Conor fight just last night and the first 2 rounds especially are like witnessing a rape.

yeah ive been watchng both of them since they came up. I remember when Ferguson was on the ultimate fighter, used to really be into that show. Khabib is a whole 'nother beast though and is truly one of the greatest lightweights to ever step in the cage.

And this is why I laugh my ass off when people talk about "martial arts" in some pure sense as if it bears any resemblance to actual unarmed combat.

"My sensei says..."

"Any REAL martial artist..."

"I have 17 black belts..."

Fucking idiots.
