Katatonia. really bad singing and lyrics, of course, but they go beyond this with their numbing, sleep-inducing, boring sound. and every song sounds the same. but i can't really put my finger on what it is about their songwriting style that makes me vomit.. it's a mystery. Katatonia must be some sort of brain specialists who know exactly which parts to target to make me feel so sick and dizzy and make me want to die just so i'll never hear them again.

how do they do it? i cringe at the mere thought of them..

In Flames deffo.
I asked this to a friend the other day: ' At The Gates - Slaughter of The Soul is the best album ever done in the Swedish melodic Death-Metal genre blablah. '
He told me : ' No Way ! Try In Flame's 'Jester Race' ' ... I downloaded it and it's ... boring and slow. I tried 2 other albums by them. And they're boring and slow too. So my vote goes for In Flames

haha, blasphemy :yell: comparing them two bands..
At The Gates worked hard and earned a name for themselves before signing to Earache. By then they had mastered what they were doing. They were on Deaf Records before that FFS!
In Flames.. me arse
:hotjump:

None... I like each band you named... Hey Cider, I saw In Flames at Wacken, and they blew 95 % of metal bands on stage... even Slayer was weaker at WOA... :headbang:

Do you have any good In Flames album to recommend then ? But spare me 'Jester Race' 'Reroute to mescouilles ' and ' Whoracle ', coz I tried them and I was bored after 3 songs ... Oh BTW, it seems that the LOA shows will be along with Machine Head ! Unless they made an error on the dates. Both bands are supposed to be playing at the Elysée Montmartre on November 4th

Colony's the only album you need from In Flames. Moonspell's first EP rocked :)

Opeths out. Their songwriting sucks even though they are brilliant musicians. The songs are too fragmented and lacks individuality, too bad because they are really good in parts.

every Paradise Lost song has the exact same structure, it's like they have this template where they just fill in some chords and the words "religion" and "contradiction" and "frown". every intro and and verse and chorus etc follow a pattern. it so incredibly annoying! the only good songs they make are the ones that don't follow this style, but they usually end up b-sides for some reason.

what i dislike about Opeth is the awful vocals and lyrics (who didn't see that coming?), and the style of the guitar playing. is the guitarist a one trick pony? i mean, all the guitar work sounds the same - it's done in the same half-quirky style. sure, it could work for one or two songs, but every single one? time to learn a new trick, guy.

i've never heard In Flames or Moonspell. heard some Gathering once but it was just so laughably bad that i won't take that entry in the poll seriously.
