It's a fantastic movie. I have yet to see either Fire Walk With Me or Eraserhead, which is upsetting :(

Haven't seen Fire Walk With Me, not bothering since I know nothing of Twin Peaks.

You liked Tetsuo, right? You'd love eraserhead.

Well, if that lesbian scene is what you mean by "fagged up" then that can hardly be a bad thing!

It accomplishes the same things by adding excessive amounts of artsy shit. Great for the eyes, no doubt about that, but because of this Lost Highway is more effective imo.

i wasn't a huge fan of Lost Highway. the ending was good though, Robert Blake is genius. i should probably watch it again sometime.

Mulholland Drive and Eraserhead though... fuck me. absolute MASTERPIECES. :kickass:

wow ... THE ISLAND was a big surprise. A really big one ...

no wonder this did not make much money at the box office, it must have went over the head of the average Bay kiddie fan.

A great mix of BLADE RUNNER, COMA and some BAD BOYS style chases, with effects that were actually credible and good acting.

Not to mention that Scarlett Johansen is as loveable as ever ...

Don't miss this one ... trust me (i'm no Mallrats fan) :loco:

how much did it rip off Brave New World? because TWO DIFFERENT TIMES did i see previews for that damn Island movie and thought "holy shit a Brave New World MOVIE!!! " and then saw From Everyone's Favorite Asshole, MICHAEL GAY!!! instead.

BNW is some old science fiction book i read years ago, dealt with cloning and readymade hookups and all kinds of stuff. The Island looked very similar from the previews is all.

i really have to shove THE ISLAND down everyones throat here :loco:

here is a review I read that prett ymuch nails it on a basic level ...

I hate Michael Bay. I have hated everything he has ever done. I can't stand his explosions and car chases over plot mentality. Even though "The Island" had many of these same qualitites, and it was just a redo of "Logan's Run," I still loved it!

....

I love the fact that this film makes an almost seemless transition from sci-fi film to action film back and forth. The film slowed down when it needed to and got loud and noisy in the appropriate places. All in all, I felt that the film was the most exciting and entertaining sci-fi film since the original "Matrix." I would highly recommend this to fans of sci-fi films and action pics.

I saw 'The Island' when it was called 'Parts: A Clonus Horror' and was being mocked by two robots and a dorky guy on a satellite. Definitely one of the more painful MST3K episodes. No need to see the big budget remake by one of the least talented directors in Hollywood. They should rename it to 'Parts Part 2: Now with more explosions and sexier actors'.

Michael Bay will one day be executed as a national apology for the gross miscalculating of human intellect by Hollywood executives. The fact that he's directing Transformers pisses me off more than anything ever has or ever will in the future. I could seriously bomb the studios for that atrocity, if I were ever inclined to become a criminal (which luckily for them I am not). And, as if having Bay on board wasn't bad enough, they decided a cassette deck was too dated for Soundwave, so now he turns into a helicopter. WTF?!!! Just use a different damn character then, or have him turn into a giant iPod.

Who keeps giving this guy money to lose? Has he had a profitable movie since Armaggedon?
