This is like the unseen paper for english lit exam. You get the poem, read it for the first time and then have to write a couple of A4's about the meaning, why the use of certain imagery etc. I always hated that!
But you get raw emotion with music.
i suppose it's completely subjective. We all have to understand the world we are in and relate aspects of life back to ourselves.
Plus the kudos factor too, the idea of , "yeah i can totally relate" or "yeah i hear you", when they don't because they may feel stupid when everyone else knows, or pretends to know the meaning...

bad lyrics ruin everything... there are tons of bands i can't stand because of this. someone call me when Opeth go 100% instrumental, ok?

i dont mind crap lyrics with good music.

Good music with bad lyrics. Was forced to vote that since I can't stop listening to Blazing Eternity these days.

Extracts from the horror cabinet: "going to the lake of freedom but the water is to* cold to swim", "temptation can burn but will I drown**", "I'm still the one I used to be***".

And they're Danish, oh the shame of it.

The music is quite beautiful though.

*: It really sais "to" in the booklet.
**:?!?.
***:?!?!?!?!?!?!.

I can tolerate bad lyrics if they're easy to ignore (like some really heavy song with screaming), 'cause quite often I really don't listen to the lyrics that much, or make too much out of them since I'm not a native english speaker. But if it's like some singer-songwriter stuff where you can't help but hear all the lyrics perfectly, and they're dead cheesy, it can ruin the whole song...

I enjoy for example Opeth and Meshuggah and most of the time I don't know what they're singing about so 'weeping eternal tears of pain under the silver moon' -lyrics don't piss me off, even if they might be there.

hmm, still haven't listened to them. I guess i once heard them when i was young, but i can't remember really. So any recommendations, or aren't they worth it. What kind of music are they playin? I did hear the name in relation to Metallicas new one, so what'are yer thoughts?

Just listen to Destroy Erase Improve (or Chaosphere). D/L some tracks or what ever and be amazed by the masters of so-called math-metal (I prefer chaosmetal, term, tho. Even if I couldn't give a rats ass what they're called)

pure chaos sweetness :D !:headbang:
