I would not say the low end was overdone. There are things I might change for personal tastes but other than that erms its a good mix.

About the snare, it's roughly a 70/30 blend in favor of the raw sound. The drummer had an awesome Ddrum snare, and played lots of flourishes on it so I wanted to maintain as much of that feel as possible. The samples were just a common cocktail of one-shots and Slates to add attack and depth without EQing the raw mic into dirt.

Mix 11 I prefer, mix 12 definitely sounds a bit more......."boomy"

Where those mix numbers the actual versions you ended up doing? I ask because I just started a fix-job where version 15 is only sounding decent.

Can I ask what guitar amp head and cab was used in this mix?

Peavey 6505+ and Mesa Rectifier Standard 4x12.

I guessed that it would be a Mesa cab but just wasn't too sure on the head.

what kick are you using for this? blend with the original?
