Name your favorite Evergrey

You nugs are all crazy... well all except the ones that agree with me that is.

In Search of Truth is, BY FAR, the best Evergrey... followed by The Inner Circle as a distant second. This is why it pisses me off when they only play one or two songs from it... and shortened versions at that. But what can ya do with only 30 minutes I guess? Maybe cut a few songs from Monday Morning Apoclypse... which, unfortunately, is their weakest.

The Inner Circle

That album takes everything that is good about Evergrey and wraps it up into a vehemently passionate concept album that virtually shoves me through several different moods during it's length. By the time I get to When The Walls Go Down, I'm usually ready to break things. Such a powerful statement wrapped into 10 tracks. Ironically, it's not pompous and overblown like some concept albums can get.

My $0.02...Rock on!

EXACTLY!

IMHO though, ISOT is VERY, VERY close. The subject matter (It's not really about alien abduction. It's about a person who BELIEVES they are the victim of alien abduction.) is very powerful and evocative. What tips the balance toward TIC for me though is the production. TIC has much better production. ISOT sounds just a touch muddy to me.

I don't really care for SDT. It and MMA are both decent metal albums, but IMO, they don't show what Evergrey is really capable of producing. They are more straightforward power metal CDs with fewer progressive elements. YMMV.

I like all their albums but The Inner Circle is just a perfect album to my ears from first to last. The first time I listened to the complete album I was speechless.

I canna do it cap'n... I'm givin her all she's got, but we just don't have the powerrrrrrrrrr!

Asking me to pick a favorite Evergrey album is like asking a parent to pick their favorite child... *EXTREMELY* hard to do, and it changes from day to day.

The best I can do is pick two: In Search Of Truth (specifically because it has The Masterplan and Mark of the Triangle) and Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy (because it has Solitude Within and She Speaks to the Dead.)

I can't wait... just a month away now!!!

S*D*T, ISoT, and Dark Discovery....partly because it was the first EG I was ever able to buy. They were allll out of S*D*T at ProgPower Europe that year. Went in not knowing who they were; left a fan. :headbang:

Thanks everyone for the answers, because I'm a new fan exploring their cataloge.

So far I'm diggin' Solitude*Dominance*Tragedy the most, because it seems to have thrash elements in it, along with prog elements. Ooops, there's that word "prog" again! :)

I have to be honest, Monday Morning is a killer disc though, contrary to what some of you think.

The Inner Circle is the one I'm struggling the most with, and I'm not sure why. As of right now, it's my least favorite.
