Do you guys enjoy some beauty? Do you enjoy a mesh of fantastic genres to kick your ass sidewides, in the vein of Opeth?

LOOK NO FURTHER

I'll start you off with one of their more melodic songs

One of my personal favourite tracks.

Starts off with some acoustic beauty, and keeps building to crush your face and your soul.

Not a problem, sir.
Glad you like it.

Also just a general question, do you think they'd make a good fit on Progpower?

really like the 3 songs you posted!! I think they would fit in nicely with our growing more diverse lineup at Progpower

Interesting. What about them would you guys think would not go over well?
For starters... Australian air fare.

Black Metal isn't something this festival really does. Ihsahn was an exception, because he's a legend within Black Metal, and because he plays with the Leprous guys. Even within the Black metal community, Progressive Black Metal isn't exactly a popular sub-genre.

how bout Primordial?
They're not really progressive by traditional, they're blackened doom for the most part.
I was really surprised they were on the bill this year.

I was as well. However, you can't really equate Ne Obliviscaris to Primordial. Primordial has been around since 1995, has seven albums, and more importantly, has a following. I'd bet money, we'll never see a band from Australia get invited here off their debut album, regardless of genre, unless they cover the majority of their costs.

(...a small one...)

Listening to some of this on youtube fantastic stuff! I'd love to see them at PP and Voyager was at the fest so there is a precedent for an Australian band (though not on their debut). Now if Damnation Angels was Australian Glenn might have to change his mind. :p
