Thing is, my band was selected to appear on a Tribute cd, so we recorded one song.

The guy at the label told us that he need the unmastered track cause his friend was going to mastered all the tracks to make them sound at the same volume bla bla bla, so we sent him the song in aiff format, but it seem that this guy can´t open it in windows media player, so he thinks the file is corrupt and he is asking me to send it again.

This leads me to ask him if his friend is going to master it and he tell me "No, i´ll send it to the press plant, AS IS".... give me a brake, i now have an unmastered -15db song that he want to release on cd that way, while the other bands have their songs mastered for sure.

So if any of you guys have some spare time and want to practice with this song, and wanna help us, i would really really appreciate it, unfortunately as much i would like to, i can´t offer any money for this :(

I don´t need the most professional master etc. just something i can use for the cd, i don´t want my song to have less volume than the other bands songs.

I have this two files (one -5, and one -15 db)

I hope someone can give it a shot.

Thanks guys!!

Hey man wow! that was fast! :), i like it man, i´ll wait if someone else wants to give it a shot, but cause the deadline is tomorrow i cannot wait to much. could you please send it in wav format? this guys at the label, can´t open aiff files and he thinks the file is corrupted, so his asking me to send it in wav :S, if isn´t much of a hassle.

Thank you man!

It's an old thread, but I will download the track for learning purpose. Today I'm starting a mastering masterclass, so I am very pleased to mix that track (: . It's also my 1st post ever in that forum

I know this is an old thread but figured I would throw you a mastered version up there. I basically added some send reverb ....just a subtle amount and then eq'd by cutting out the 30hz ish and below bands to clean up a bit to make some head room. Also did some cuts around 250hz area just subtle enough to clean up any muddy sound and to make a little more clear. The 2k range was brought up a tad to emphasize on bringing vocals a little forward and the 8-10k range small cut to cut any harsh bright overtones from cymbals and such.

I then used compression and limiting to bring up gain stage to around -.02 db which gives it nice loud punch. Also the first event in the chain was a tube saturation plug to give it a little more of a full sound. I think overall it came out louder than the original and sounds a lot more clear and crisp. If you happen to listen to it and don't like it then I understand. Just appreciate you posting it and letting some people practice with it.

If anyone does happen to like the sound and needs any free mixing and mastering hit me up. My email is public I think and if not its shawn197836@gmail.com

Thanks
Shawn
