Need Info on some preamps

I just have a starter studio setup here in a bedroom nothing to crazy.....Im looking to purchase a Microphone PreAmp....money wise i have $500-600

- I only need two good channels.....Im not recording live drums..cause im no where near the level to do that(maybe someday).
- All that i would need to Run threw the PreAmp is Vocals and Guitar cab which im going to use a 57 close up on the cone and a 421 a little off axis....So I'm looking for a PreAmp that will work good with both Heavy Distorted guitar and Vocals....

So yeah im not sure what would be best....I just want to check with you guys before a purchase

Can't go wrong with an RNP....The M-audio DMP3 is 2 chan as well and is a nice pre for the $$$.

personally im th ebiggest fan of the goldmike.

cool...Also do you think some of these lower grade mic pre's have enough ass to push a Shure sm7b properly?????

Would imagine so. I own a DMP3 and run 58's and Rode NT1's through mine with no issues. I've also used the RNP before with a SM7 before on vox and it did the job nicely.

The FMR gear is insanely good for the $$$. I love my RNC. Such a "musical" compressor.
