Sorry, but this is a horrible list. Arcturus???? These bands are not suitable for a begginer but for someone who is quite familiar with extreme metal. Most of the bands you listed would not appeal to someone who only listens to Disturbed, Killswitch etc....

So yeah The Haunted, Lamb of God, Trivium.. maybe some melodic death/thrash like Shadows Fall, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom(specially their late stuff) and then maybe switch to some traditional thrash like Slayer, Testament, Sodom and Sepultura. And then I am sure you will find other bands by yourself

Good luck with discovering new music, and dont listen to anyone going on about how much their music taste is better than yours. I doubt that they started of with the bands that they love so much today, either
