New 5150 + OD-820 tone

Mic position was the standard "edge of the dustcap", 1 inch from the grill, I can try to make some pics next time
Today I'm going to try something using a Gibson SG with Gibson stock passive pickups. I will try to record my 5150 but I'll also try to record a 6505 with stock tubes which belongs to a friend. Now I can see if there's a huge difference or not. I will use Vintech and API pres too, and will post the results here !

Sly, I have the JJ's in my 5150 too, like others said, you have a mid-problem, try this:
The mid knob not higher than 2. Get some more treble in there too, up to 6 maybe, depends.
The tone knob on the Maxon, don't crank it, actually I keep mine at 0.
The higher you get, the more pronounced mids you get.
Also, I have V60s in my cab, they also pronouce the mids too much so it is hard to control them.
Just put everything to 0 and work from there in tiny steps I suppose
