just found someone who wants to trade his Engl Savage60 for my Mesa Simul 295...

so there'll be a new head in the studio soon (next saturday)....expect clips :)

I've not tested the savage60 so far but really like the 120, I know it's a cut-down version, I don't really care cause 60W is enough for me and I don't need the flexibility in the studio.
can anyone compare the distortion-sound of the 60 to the sound of the 120?

I really want to hear clips of this when you get it, I've always wondered how the S60 compares to the Fireball.

I have only the savage.
It's a good amp, a little fizzy (it's an engl trademark) and it's not a plug and play amp like, for example, a 5150...or at least I spent a lot of time to find "my" sound.
I'm very curious about the settings you'll use.

If only the poweramp is different it should sound the same, only a bit better on lower volumes.

I think they are voiced slightly brighter and clearer than the Fireball/Powerball so thats why they got the Power Metal rep. I always forget how expensive these things are in America, Engl's are really cheap over here.

ENGLs are the same price in the U.S as they are over here (or even cheaper!) !
it's just that your stuff (especially Mesa) is so ridiculously overpriced in europe that in comparison Engl seem to be cheaper.

example:

Mesa Dual Rec: U.S.A.: 1600$ ? Europe: 4.040$
Engl Powerball: U.S.A.: 1954$ Europe: 2.416$
