how about shipping a mesa from the us to europe. Will it cost less than retail over here?

The power transformer needs to be changed on the amp (US uses 120V mains, while Europe uses 220 - 240V depending on the country). It's a pretty expensive part, around 150 euros (230 USD).

The problem is warranty though. If/when the amp breaks, you'd need to wait for months to first ship it back to the US, wait for it to be fixed and then shipped back. All the while there is a high chance the amp will be further damaged by the disgruntled postal people throwing it around, not to mention the amp having a very high chance of being lost in the post.

I once heard a HLS-1 and was pretty much overwhelmed. I contacted brave about import-options to Germany. A new distributor here told me, the amp would cost 1650€. Do you know what they go for in italy?

Never tried one, you can find them for 300 euros less than your price

Haven't swapped the tubed for better ones so far...
usually my preferation is TT in v1 and JJ for the rest (like you have it).

The NOS RFT 12ax7 is meant to sound killer in ENGL's as well.
