Hey all, had this amp for a couple of months and finally got round the recording it, figured that some might want to hear it. It's pretty similar to the now discontinued Rocker 30, main differences are that this is EL84's instead of EL34's, this has an fx loop and the eq controls on the front are different.

Anyway, on to clippage:

EDIT: Old clip sucked, check this one out instead!

Its not bad for what it is dude

It really could do with more boost from the tubescreamer... try no drive tone 12,00 and level full on.
From what i can tell it needs more top end clarity.. but that may be resolved with a different mic position :)

Yeah I've maybe undergained it a bit listening back (I'm pretty bad for this actually, always worried about using too much and end up using too little!)
Good call on hitting it harder with the tubescreamer, I like the sound I get from cranking the tubescreamer when going into the windsor so it might work well on this amp too.

Might see what I can get out of giving it a bit of a boost in the lows/low mids to try and get it a bit more big sounding.

very nice..... now if we can just get orange to come down a little on their prices

Oranges are cheap here in the UK. :Smug:

Just count yourself lucky that you don't have to pay a shitload for a Mesa or Peavey. They're seriously pricey over here.

Yeah this amp I managed to get for about £520.

A 6505 on the other hand is £1000, and a Dual Rec is about £2000, with the rectifier cab's being about £1000. Neither the 6505 or the rectifier cabs tend to come up second hand very often, and when they do people expect daft prices for them.

these are my current settings:

dirty channel: Vol-11 o'clock, shape-3 o'clock, gain-3 o'clock

clean channel: Vol- 9 o'clock, treble-3 o'clock, bass-3 o'clock

4 tubes full power
I like playing bullet for my valentine, as i lay dying and similar bands

do you think it would be worth getting an eq pedal. by the way, which preamp row did you put that ECC82 cos i was thinking of doing the same

I think it would be worth grabbing an eq pedal, I've not got round to getting one yet but I feel once you get above 2 o clock on the shape control the mid scoop gets a bit too wide, hence why this clip sounds a bit thin. Gonna do a new recording with my Mesa cab sometime this week.

I put the 82 in the tube socket closest to the input of the amp. Really improves the clean sound but also has an effect on the distortion sound, makes it a little less aggressive and a bit more old school sounding. You might like it though. I think it's certainly worth having some ecc82's lying around for when it comes to recording clean stuff as I find the sound much nicer than cleans through an 83.

what eq pedal r u gettin?
and on that clip where u using an ecc82 for distortion?

I've heard a ton of these clips using that song, but that was definitely one of the better sounding ones.

Did sound a little underpowered in the gain dept., as some have previously mentioned.

Any chance of posting another version w/ a little more gain?

Thanks man, personally I'm not too fond of that clip, think I've scooped it too much and as mentioned the gain is a bit too low.

I'm gonna do some new clips tomorrow. Will post with the results sometime tomorrow night.

Righto here's 83 vs 82 comparison clips!

Might be a tad bright as the mic is bang in the centre of the speaker as I'm also doing a speaker comparison today so this was a bit rushed.
