Really?!

Every band I've tracked that uses blackouts are my lesser favorite tones I've recorded. More often than not it seems like they are way too hot. I've seen too many blackout DI's with clipped transients while maintaining a healthy tracking level.

Pickup height could be the culprit but I've never noticed any of the players having their pickups extremely close to the strings...

On the other hand all the tones I've heard from you have crushed small villages so maybe it's me.
