New forum feedback/sneak peeks

I copied over this thread from GMD so you all came check out some of the progress on the next Ultimate Metal site, as well as see some of the comments that have been given so far. I'd love to get some feedback from some of you as well, so please feel free to comment and share your thoughts!

I'd like to solicit feedback from sneak peeks of the new forum development. I'll post as I have something worth posting.

New forum will have a dark/light choice:

Trying to decide whether this will be a typical band layout (lighter content area). Perfect world = there will be a light/dark option per band forum.

Can you make a skin that has a similar color scheme to the current one? I was a moderator on a big video game site that underwent a big change in appearance and a ton of old members became disinterested until we offered a skin that looked similar to the classic one.

The darker one is similar

The main color of the current site default on this site is blue and darker blue, with black as a backdrop behind the blue. The dark option is primarily black and gray in almost all areas. They aren't very similar at all.

I don't think the color matters, and there is an option for a red background right now, isn't there?

I'm providing feedback based on when I helped run a site with several thousand members that didn't enjoy the loss of the color option that they liked. It really isn't anyone but Deron's decision whether my feedback has merit, so I'm really not sure why both of you are providing criticism of it. Adding more options hurts no one.

I may indeed have that so I can avoid the "hold outs" as you mention. I remember getting skewered when we went from the red to blue .

Thanks. I like the black one up there but I didn't want people to lose the options that they currently have.

Probably should have phrased your question differently, came off in a demand rather than feedback.

It's all me, why do you think its taken forever to get to, haha!

Web developer/designer is what I do for a living . There may be a couple things I sub out that are beyond me with the framework I went with, but those are more wish list items than necessities.

Weird..figured this ultimatemetal enterprise made you so wealthy you could pay some coders!

psh - making me broke maybe, haha. Since google kicked me out of their ad program from too many nudes/porn garbage showing on the site it's all coming out of my pocket for server, etc.

With the new site, I'm going to ask for direct ads from music / music fan related advertisers. So, if you ad block on here, I hate you, you're killin' me

I am also planning a huge contest/fund raising thing - donations will equate to points for giveaways and raffles. Should be fun and a win/win/win.

It will be big time mobile friendly, and not require an app to run for your phone. This is one of my most fav aspects of the new one coming.

Maybe I'm an old fart, but I like layout of the forum as is. The one in the OP looks way too busy for me but whatever. As long as I can keep my red/black scheme, I'm okay
