What Keri said. :)
Heh, Keri???? Is that some sort of new pig-latin dialect? Would your name then be something like KeelyJaye?

BTW Jay, I LOVE this quote from your review of "Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty":

"...had Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty been released twelve-months ago, I would have been screaming its name (incorrectly) from my rooftop. Instead, I find myself putting it on as a roast chicken banquet and room-temperature ale accompaniment for when my parents come visit."

Find a thread called "teh most sux". I was listed as KY Jelly.

It's true I tell ya! There are some 'not so obvious' albums that go well with a fine dinner gathering: Ulver's Kveldssanger, and Opeth's Damnation are other good examples of this.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately, there is so much new music being released these days, it's hard to give each CD 4-5 spins. If you did that with every CD, you'd spend more time listening to music you don't than to music that you do like.

Generally, I'll listen to the first three tracks on a disc. If it at all interests me, I'll listen to the whole disc. Often however, based on either the amount of hype a disc generates or based on the recommenation of someone whose musical opinion I respect, I'll revisit a CD that I had previously dismissed. Case it point, given how much you, Mark and Ali all dig "Jester Race", I'll give it another chance or two to win me over.

Cool, especially considering that the first 3 tracks off TJR are all wicked, especially my favorite of any In Flames song: Artefacts of the Black Rain. :)

Not necessarily, if that 30 seconds is in the form of a killer intro or something, with the rest of the album not really following form (i.e. Helloween's 'Better Than Raw').
Man, I love Better Than Raw; in fact, I think it's the best Helloween w/ Deris album. You no likey?

Just didn't grab me the way the awesome intro did (though Push and Midnight Sun definitely smoke). I dunno, songs (off the top of my head) such as 'Don't Spit On My Mind', Back on the Ground', 'A Handful of Pain', et. al, just cried ordinary to these ears.

Because I downloaded it. It's quite bad. Anders sounds unbelievably whiny. Imagine that guy in Korn at an age of 14 and you're close. Also it has those unbelievably cheesy spacey keyboard sounds, straight out of 80's disco, and it's all very much stereotypical mallcore in the "HEAVY CHORUS WITH GUITARS AND SCREAMING/BASS AND SYNTH AND WHINE VOCALS IN VERSES" way.

On the whole, I'd rather listen to Exodus.

Is it dark or is it bright?
What's the latest on the screen?
Please tell me my name
I haven't checked it today

and those lyrics....wow, deep man, deep...

OK the new In Flames is bad. Very bad. And this coming from someone who thought Clayman and Reroute To Remain were both ok. Granted, my tastes have since changed and I've been on more of a Subterranean kick as of late, but for the new IF album, think 'R2R without the cleanly sung choruses, lots of electronic synths, guitar effects out the wazoo, that trademark triplet riffing, and above all, extremely manufactured sounds put together upon that same Soilwork FnF conveyer belt'.

Let's face facts, they wrote this in their sleep. Even if R2R was the only IF record you owned, this would still be considered a step down IMO. Just a bunch of bored musicians who thought they'd jump on the trendy bandwagon, and based on the 'nu' scene having died an abrupt death recently, it looks like they've had the rug pulled from beneath them.

In Flames now reside in 'No Mans Land' - I just don't know of any audience that would appreciate this.
