New Nile track

Tony Laureno (Ex Angelcorpse) did the drums on ITDS. He is one of the most technical drummers out there IMO. Unfortunately he's drumming for Dimmu Borgir now. As far as the Mp3, I really like it. I agree that its not exactly "nile-esque" but its got some fucking killer riffs.

had I not known this is a Nile track, I'd have taken a guees at at least twenty other bands before

agree with this ... there are some swirling subtle middle eastern themed riffs here and there ... but if you did not tell me this was Nile, would have never guessed

is John Vesano on this one? I know he left Nile, but did he record the vocals before his departure? I thought he did a phenomenal job on Darkened Shrines.

I don't feel ready to completely abandon or write this off just yet. Unlike most (haha, like you) I give every album ample opportunity to win me over.

Unless it's by a band called Madder Mortem. :loco:

in that case, it was a sad year for DM

Well, it's not my favorite genre since I pretty much think it's mostly stagnant, but of this grouping, it's by far the best:

Blood Red Throne
Bloodbath
Nile
Bolt Thrower
Akercocke
God Dethroned (if you consider them DM)
Paths of Possession (if you consider them DM)

No, I haven't heard Rudra's new one.

Who knew all it would take was a decent producer so you could actually HEAR *gasp* what was going on beneath the cacophony. Also, I happen to *LOVE* the fact that the gay Egyptian interludes are gone, replaced by Egyptian-themed music interwoven into the riffs & melodies. So much smarter.

will be funny to see him play that ... given that he is like 5'2' and 250lbs. :loco:

scalloped fretboards or so fucking metal they hurt. seriously, my buddy has one and that thing is a bitch to play chords on! he's like Yngwie Jr. though, so of course he loves it.

Karl Sanders
The 11 string fretless is tuned similar to an Oud or Glissentar ,
except all whacked out with a special Karl tuning that
no one has used before and I am hesitatnt to give out just yet.

The bottom neck ( midi) is planned for regular Nile tuning.

but the evil stuff I wanna do with it will be on the next record.

The 11 string fretless is so that I can play evil Oud/Glissentar -like stuff -
but crushingly reinterpreted in a Metal context through my Marshalls.....
hahahahhaha

If its ready in time for the tour , I will bust it out on a few songs.

so fucking cool.

i've never seen a fretless guitar in person. fretless bass is one thing, and not terribly easy, but a fretless guitar has to take some serious dedication.
