New SD3 SDX Pack

Just got an email from Toontrack and it's says something special is coming November 21st. It shows half of the SDX pack. However, it's easy to see what the other half is.

It's going to be called "The Rock Foundry".

wonder when bob rock last engineered a big rock album, or had to work with programmed drums.

kind of strange that they picked the same studio and a lot of similar kits to the rock warehouse SDX that staub did.

oh well, still a great room and hopefully it sounds good.

DUDE, exactly what i was thinking when i was reading the details!
again someone might think that TT are re-recycling the samples

though i must admit that the sound file is not bad at all, especially the KICK sounds great!

I think doing a big rock pack is actually a good move for Toontrack as its probably where the core library of SD3 lacks most. As long as the head selections and tunings aren't too weird I can't imagine the pack being too bad at all.....

exactly....

Although I recently bought the rock warehouse and it’s not as bad at all as most people make out.

1 or 2 of the kits are more usable than the others and it’s very different to other SDX’s in that you’re better off turning on all bleed/mic channels and building the sound out of the OH/rooms and blending in the close mics for more clarity. The close mics themselves sound a bit weird on their own and building a drum sound out of just those would sound a bit odd.

Most SDX’s seem to strike a balance between good close mic sounds and room tones so you can balance as you wish.
