New to Death Metal

Yea, I havent really listened to all of them but from what I can surmise, after TotM Cannibal Corpse ceased to make good albums, only occasional good songs on meh albums.

Cannibal Corpse - Kill is crap, for one.

There's no fucking way anyone would need every Cannibal Corpse album if new to death metal. Just get Tomb of the Mutilated and stop.

The Wretched Spawn and Kill are solid albums. Sure, not defining moments, but definately worth checking out.

he asked for reccomendations and I gave mine... as far as I can tell, he who asked for these reco's is intelligent enough to post on a forum and he should therefore be intelligent enough to go to myspace or amazon or even use a torrent to test out these sounds before he buys a cd or pays for a legit. mp3...

I love all of CC's work, and I think Kill is great, remind me of when I saw them play in Japan the year it came out . If you don't agree that's fine but no need to be agrro champ, we're all learning about each others tastes, it's not a competition, or are you stil 12 years old?



I got the reissue of the Massacre -"From Beyond" cd in the mail last night and have spun it at least 4-5 times since then and highly reccomend it as well...

No.

The album has a really generic sound, like they ran out of new ideas so they're just retreading old ones. Corpsegrinder honestly sounds shitty, the solos feel tacked on, and they aren't even revolting anymore. At least the Wretched Spawn made me feel unclean. But Kill? No gory art, and the song titles...Infinite Misery? LAME. The only really vile one is Submerged In Boiling Flesh.

Oh, right, the music. Dull and repetitive. Drumming from the School Of Hitting The Snare Not Quite Fast Enough To Be A Blast Beat But Fast Enough To Be Irritating And Then Doing So For The Entire Album (See also: Dismember - Like An Everflowing Stream, which is a much better album). Guitar riffs from the School Of Ripping Of Cannibal Corpse. Yes, they've become a knockoff of themselves. The solos sound like they were so shitty that Slayer rejected them, so CC rooted around in the trash, fished out the tape, and pasted them into the songs. Corpsegrinder's vocals are pretty mediocre - I get really tired of him talking so fast. There are a few interesting vocal lines, which are kept up for about 4 lines and then never heard again, while the chorus (MAKETHEMSUFFER! MAKETHEMSUFFER!) gets repeated way too many times.

I feel cheated out of my $8.
