Anaal Nathrakh 9.45 - 10.55 (70 min set)

I've got the first three Anaal Nathrakh albums, as well as the 'Total Fucking Necro' collection of early demos. They've become less out-and-out chaotic-hellstorm-of-hatred and more considered and refined with each release, without ever really losing the core of intensity that originally marked them as being worthy of interest. Of Akercocke's stuff, I've got The Goat Of Mendes, Choronzon and Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone. The latter is definitely the best of what I've got - an excellent amalgamation of deathy riffage, black metal velocities and proggy, unexpected songwriting twists.

Meads never impressed me. Never did check out Anaal. Akercocke were awesome, but are no more.

Now the Brits have Ildra and Winterfylleth. Goddamn the Brits did something right here. I've been out of the game with newer bands, but I'm totally impressed with their version of Anglo/Pagan black metal. Much more black metal than Forefather, but no less powerful.

I heard Ancient Sorrow by Fen. It was ok. More post black metal.

One band that keeps popping up in my research is wodansthrone

Yeah , Fen and Wodensthrone intrigued me when they first started putting out material but I grew bored of them. Not sure why really, as I spun Fen's EP a few days ago for the first time in awhile and I still find it really good.
