Mornigrise 2........ FUCK THAT!

Why would the band go back to mornigrise type material? To me that is their "weakest" album. You people really need to stop with the "nothing is better than mornigrise crap. " Its sickening. The band has moved on to BIGGER and BETTER music.

The important part of your post is the "To me.." part. Atleast you subconciously realise that it is solely your opinion, and worth just as much as anyone elses, so there's hope for you yet.
But please, in the future, don't hesitate to shut the fuck up :)

*is too busy riding the waves of pure bliss at the thought of 16 new Opeth songs to say anything constructive*

oohhhhh bbooyyy.......OOOOpppPeeeTTTThhhhh-aaaaaahhh!!!

This is a Opeth message board for Opeth fans....I have a statement I will say it. Weither you like it or not. Kinda like my opinion on Morningrise.

So whats so great about it? A long dual guitar 20 minute song? Wow it's 10 minutes of clean vocals..... Nectar does anyone really care about that song? Every song sounds pretty damn identical with a few acustic parts thrown in for the pure hell of it. How many times in total does that album go to a complete stop in the music? and how many times can Mike get a way with saying "whisper". Like I said I like it ,but it's by no means as great as some of you people make it out to be. Im wondering how many of the albums supporters like it just because it's POPULAR on the board.

Granted its a good album just not as good as the new material. Still Life , My Arms, Your Hearse and company stomp all over it.

Please give me your wonderful insight on the album.... if not please do the world a favor and shut the fuck up.

im not going to go into a lot of detail....but I personally consider Still Life to be the weakest album. Not musically or lyrically, I just don't like it as much as others. Morningrise is a more complex album than Still Life or BWP in my opinion, though MAYH is my personal favorite.

You see what i've done here?? I gave my opinion without being rude or apprehensive. I told you how I felt in a competent matter, without making someone else feel that this is the "one true opinion". You should take notes, and learn how to state opinions without trying to make yourself seem superior.

C'mon guys... it is getting really tiresome of the debate as to which is their "best" album. Everyone is always gonna have differences, period. If everyone agreed on that then we'd all be like the trendy fucks that like N'Synch or whatever band/album is in top style. Who cares. Discussions about remarkable moments in certain songs, as well as what some may find standard or whatever.. it's all cool, but damn, it always turns into one calling the other a fucking idiot or something... it's so OLD! Doesn't speak so well for your point of view either.

Anyway, as to some other recent comments:

I can't quite figure out why several people are talking like sounds like morningrise II simply because there are 5+1 songs on it. (ps- that's 6..and Morningrise only has 5). I think it's pretty clear they are moving FORWARD and progressing vs going back in time for the same sounds. Mikael has mentioned in many interviews he doesn't write the same way as the first 2 cds. So, am I missing something? I've been rackin my brain all day trying to figure whatever other connection has come up that has people saying it seems like morningrise.

Please.. I'd like a healthy discussion about this. No fights. Name-callers will be severely reprimanded in the principal's office! :p

well morningrise had 5 songs and they were going to have an instrumental on there but didn´t have time so... I will be extreamly dissapointed if i wont get an album filled with twin guitar harmonys and at least one 20 minute song!!! (if not two)

Dude....you people don't even know what the albums sound like and you're already criticizing it! Jesus Christ!
...Anyway....I'm looking forward to both albums....I'm sure they will be up to par with everything else they have done...

  @MAYH
boy, you set a tuff standard there with that last comment. I guess you should prepare now for your heartbreak.

But.. yes, you've probably nailed it. That imfamous 6 track that wasn't recorded. I was starting to wonder if why people couldn't count to six anymore!

Well, I adore all their cds, including Morningrise. I'm very happy for it!.. But, I'll like the present offerings to be what they're feeling inspired to write NOW. I am sooo looking foward to hear!

this is for the one saying morningrise is their weakest album.

you call yourself an Opeth fan huh?

well let me tell you this: Morningrise was the first album mikael felt comfortable going mellow, and it's the album containing the longest ever written Opeth song.

you can never say it's their weakest album.
it's their stongest even though i personally consider Orchid as my favorite.

In short - maybe mike did go mellow and silent vocals within the songs of Orchid, but still not for very long. In Morningrise you are able to see the 3-4 mins os mellow vocals and guitar plucking within Black Rose Immortal.
And always consider To Bid You Farewell for being the first almost 100% mellow song of Opeth.
You have to respect that and above all respect Morningrise for definately being their strongest album.

Maybe it'll even be 4 10 minute songs and 1 20 minute song, just like Morningrise (except for the 6th short one). But that means nothing.
