Nightmare on Suck Street

That makes me sad. I love The Orphanage, and to think that it's going to have a crappy American makeover tainting it's greatness...

Yeah, that's it...

I would understand if they were to remake Cronos, which is a lil' old right now and Del Toro was starting the direction deal by that time.... The movie has a very interesting plot but the final product isn't as polished as his later works.

And if you dub it then someone might think the audio is broken since the lips don't match up!

But seriously, Americans hate subtitles. We is dum.

Well I might say that 99% of the movies I watch are subtitled, since IMO the brazilian cinematographic production sucks in a reasonable portion of the cases.

And it is not bad at all, I watch spanish movies subtitled too.
Spanish is a very beautiful language when spoken properly. The phonetics have a strong feel to it.

yeh, but once you get used to subtitles its hard to go back! ive been watching a fair amount of foreign films the last few years, and its kind of ruined me for movies where people in other countries are speaking english to each other, its just unbelievable now. we tried to watch that Valkyrie movie with tom cruise not long after watching Inglourious Basterds a few times and turned it off after like 15 minutes, it was just so silly. and boring. maybe thats not a fair example...

and i definitely prefer to read subtitles than watch with crappy dubbing, unless its some old silly hong kong action movie where dubbing provides half the entertainment.

Subtitles are awesome. As long as you can see, and read, it's like they're not even there after a while. But yeah I think I tried to invite a friend to go see The Orphanage at the theater with us, but he told me he can't read well enough to keep up with them. Wtf...

ct_thrash, it doesn't work too much for my girlfriend too, for exmple, 'cause she has astigmatism. But to me is fine.

Neal, dubbing should be restricted to Hong Kong, haha

Remakes always suck pretty much, My Bloody Valentine was somewhat ok though. I'm a fan of Edward Lee's extreme horror novels but recently happened upon his movie "Header"; you may want to check that out, it's pretty off the wall however I could only get 25 minutes into it before I had to turn it off due to the absurd pornographic violence. Totally not ready to see Edward Lee novels become film at this point.

...so you like to read and imagine graphic violence, but you dont like to see it? whats the difference? i would think picturing it in your mind would be way more gruesome and scary than seeing fake guts on a screen
