I think you could "just read" if you didn't want a bunch of ungrateful fans bothering you all the time.

(Well, certainly not everybody here is ungrateful, but it only takes a few bad apples...)

I think it is the only bad thing that comes to my mind about SX. I think they (at least one of them in the name of the band) should post here often. At least to answer the questions...
When i think of other bands forums, for example Sun Caged, Marcel posts about anything, answers everything, and that is one of the things that makes him "big" in my eyes.

I think it would be cool if all the band members posted here once in a while, but I'll admit one thing, these band forums are so childish because most band forums I've been to are full of useless threads and senseless posts. I think this SX forum has probably the least immature posts I've seen in all band forums, but there's some childish threads here and there. So maybe that's why the band members don't post?

It would still be cool to see them post.

only a few is fine, but most boards have more stupid threads than threads about the band, for example the nevermore and opeth board here on UM. Also a lot of times the threads about the band have a bunch of posters who come in and act like it's cool to say stupid things that have nothing to do with the thread topic.

Katatonia tends to have good threads and non-douche bag posters. Anders posts there pretty often. Same with the Vintersorg forum -- good threads (albeit a slow board), and Vintersorg posts quite often. On the Orphaned Land forum (one of the best on here), three or four of the members of the band post -- and very often. Even on the Opeth forum (easily one of the worst on here -- at least of the ones that I frequent), Mikael posts from time to time. I don't know why I posted this.

One of the reasons the band members don't post could be that they don't have just time to answer all these questions, ie. imagine a situation where Romeo would post something, then all would go: "Mike, how this one scale you are playing goes", "why are there less keyboard parts in Odyssey", etc etc. So you imagine he wouldn't bother answering those "mindless questions", and if he didn't fans would think he's not loyal to them. Ok I just thought I would point this out.

I agree about the Opeth board--it's pretty embarrassing. I tried posting there for awhile, but left because of the rude way they treated Mikael AND even insulted his wife and infant daughter. (Trust me, if you'd seen it you would understand.)

I believe that if word got out that the band was posting here at the Symphony X board, this is how you'd see it go down: at first there'd be a lot of excitement and a flurry of band-related questions from the sane fans...then the heckling would start the first time a band member said something that went against the majority opinion of the forum, and THEN you'd get problems from trolls signing up just because they know the band members are there, the forum would go completely down the toilet, resulting in the band's disgust and their either quitting posting and letting the board moulder in its own mess, or shutting it down altogether.

But personally, as long as any people here act like it's their God-given right for the band members to post here and talk directly to them, I have a feeling they won't even consider it.

DISCLAIMER: This post is based on NOTHING but my own gut feelings and observations of unrelated forums. Therefore, I may well be completely wrong. Take with a boulder of salt.

While we're talking about bands posting on their forums... SX is one of two bands who haven't posted a greeting over at the Gigantour forums - the other one just got confirmed very recently. They might want to get on that, as they don't have a very big fanbase over there to begin with.
