Fuck!Fuck!:waah:

I don't know why you think it isn't because of touring.. I mean this album will probably be their breakthrough album (finally), so the tours they will do will probably be a lot longer, and they both now have a family. They just chose their family.

+1

I think that's all this means. They "accidentally" put out an album that's doing very well, and now all of a sudden they will be touring more.

i'm totally bummed. i've totally loved this band's music for years.

but while i really dig the new album, you dont think there's a chance that the guitarist and bassist got a bit bored? i mean, while the arrangements are lush and the production is fantastic, i think the album is very focused on the vocal melody and the instrumentation (specifically guitars) took a backseat. actually i think they took the tiny, squished 3rd row seat in a midsized SUV.

i dont pretend to know anything about their lives or their relaltionship within the band, i'm just sayin... i could see those two wanting to do something else musically if the band's new direction was very vocals focused vs the cool instrument arrangements they did more on previous albums. just my 2 cents

I'll just chime in and say that from everything I know on the subject, the press release honestly and candidly represents the situation. Two guys with children and full time jobs had to make a incredibly difficult decision. I'm sad to see them leave as they're both great players and great people. Hopefully we'll hear more music from them in the future.

Sad news indeed. I wonder what the future will bring them. It will be interesting to see what new members bring to the table.

I don't think it will affect their sound much, because the Norrman brothers didn't really do much writing in the band. It's always been Renkse and Blakkheim doing all the songs. That could also be one factor in their decision to leave.

That was my first reaction too, but honestly... as long as Blakkheim, Daniel, and Jonas are still in it, it's still Katatonia to me.

My feeling as well. It is weird when bands split up or members leave. But yeah, as long as Anders, Jonas and Daniel are there, it will be fine. Similar to having Mike in Opeth. Without them the bands would not be the same at all.

Indeed and as harsh as it may sound, both of them are quite standard players, they don't have a "special sound" like some players do. If the drummer would've left, that would've been harder to replace.

I would have been devastated if the drummer left.

I've been listening to Katatonia for years and never even knew the names of the dudes besides Renkse and Blakkheim. I guess that says something.
