Notable Releases to Come 2021

Only own Bitter ist's dem Tod zu dienen. The romanticized Gollum vocals are very off putting in that one. I hate the sound of smeagol.

Not too familiar with the rest of their cat. I dont do romance. (Unless its Mystic Forest) :heh:

This band jumped the shark very early on. Two and a half good albums followed by 20 years of releasing horrid shit.

While those first two tracks do not sound very good, this is a horrible take sir. I would say that the vocals on her von welken are probably peak annoying for the band, but their albums after are definitively not horrid. As a non metal album In Luft Geritzt has some breathtaking moments and the last 4-5 tracks contain some of the most beautiful violin melodies I have ever heard in music (metal or otherwise). Durch den traum, flammentriebe , and to a lesser degree Hexenwind (which has grown on me), all have some outstanding tracks. I even enjoy Freiheit although I would say it’s their weakest of the last few.

I acknowledge some of the vocals are an acquired taste, but the interplay between acoustic instrumentation and metal while sometimes disjointed, soars. After the first four, it’s probably better to just think of them as an acoustic band that incorporates metal instead of the other way around. At least they’re trying something different and don’t really sound like anyone else—I’ll take it over 30333803x clone bands.

yeah bro you're right I withdraw the unnecessary harshness of the comment. Let's just say that my cutting the cord with Dornenreich after Her von welken Nächten (an album I can even stand to listen to anymore) was brutal and I found everything Eviga did since then increasingly empty/boring. I still revere the two first albums though.

Never found the right mood for In Luft geritzt neither. Maybe it's the whispers.

Yea, I can definitely see how the whispers could be annoying  --- you should at least give the last five tracks another go. I probably also have a connection/nostalgia for that one because when I saw them live they played the whole album.

Additionally,
This is all over the place, a bit unhinged, but glorious.

I bought one of the new era At the Gates album.

It made Slaughter of the Soul seem pretty good.

Yup. I've said this before, but I was really hyped up when "At War With Reality" was released. I left work early that day, and it wasn't worth it. I remember Tranquillian saying that he had a promo and it sounded like an equal mix of SotS, With Fear..., and Terminal Spirit Disease.

He was wrong.

Am I the only one who actually really likes Slaughter of the Soul? Like quite a lot?

But yeah the last one was rubbish and little interest in anything else new they've got coming out.
