Nottingham - Rock City, 27th Nov

No it wasn't. Sound engineer did a pretty good job compared to a lot of people in that venue :)

Thanks for the clip! It certainly sounds much better straight off the desk than through the PA. But I still think the sound in the venue was absolutely crap. So is Rock City considered a bit of a shed for sound quality these days? I haven't been there much recently.

Straight off the desk? That's recorded with moderately priced, and in fact fairly bassy, miniature microphones. Was intended to demonstrate that, as has now been said, there are always going to be parts of a venue that sound better than others. Evidently did the trick! :)

I wouldn't say City is particularly bad for sound, just regularly average. Rare to get the instruments quite as distinguished from each other as they were last night - I think a lower-than-usual volume helped. For the record, the Basement's sound is usually excellent. Also worth noting that Opeth doubtless have their own soundman who always does the best he can for what he knows of their sound in every venue they play.

How was Ghost of Perdition? If possible can you pllllllease post a short clip of it? I don't mean to open up a can of worms here, but I need to hear that song live!!!!

Yeah cmon. You gotta tell us how GoP came off live.

GoP was amazing of course!

Sound was bloody excellent where I was, pretty much perfect. Wasn't for burst, whose guitar was a bit too loud, but ah well.

To answer questions:
'Burst' were OK, quite entertaining. Its sort of like.. screaming, but with decent music behind it.
They played 'Closure' like they did on Lamentations, yes. And it lead straight into bleak with no gap... it was amazing.
Yes they really did play Under The Weeping Moon, and it rocked.
They played the whole solo from 'White Cluster', note perfect too!

Probably the best show ive seen them play (out of 5).

Did they play Closure too then? That's my mate's favourite song so at least he'll be happy for 5 minutes.

Do u have to be over 18 to see opeth?
Im going to see them in leeds on tuesday and am getting paranoid that we wont get in because on most of the websites it says "18's and over"
Anybody wanna put my mind at rest?:Spin:

 Please someone let me know:erk:

Tonight's Glasgow set was pretty similar to the Notts set, minus Baying and with Demon of the Fall as the set closer. No real encore because of the curfew to turn the venue over into nightclub mode. Still, pretty fucking good, even though Mike was ill apparently. They really need a better arrangement for the mixing desk for Garage gigs. Having the desk at the side of the stage is really fucking stupid.

Oh and for those that were there...<death metal voice>ROB ROY!</death metal voice>

They've done many albums, and they're legends. ;)

Martin said this was the first time they hadnt played Demon Of The Fall as a closer - oringinally i thought it was because of the curfew, but then Mike told me it was never in the setlist anyway.

One song which is on the setlist (which i got a copy of) but wasnt played due to time constraints was 'A Fair Judgement'
