Ha, well yeah, I just had to sit here all day working on an assignment. Just popped into me that I should go and listen to whole albums more. Some albums definitely have a bigger picture going on, and Porcupine Tree is indeed a good example.

Everyone Into Position is pretty good, definitely some solid songs on there.

I gave that album a listen once. I've despised the band ever since.
I've ignored it until then, but I caved in and made about half way, quite awful. Wtf at all the good reviews it got.
Just gave TWDY a spin too after seeing Frosties' post. Although I really dig them, I never listened to the s/t many times, but it's indeed really good. Now playing Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34: The Complete Trip. Also, I've listened to 10 full albums today, excluding this one... that's pretty good! Considering I usually pick out random songs / portions of albums I feel like listening to at that moment. Going to try to keep the full-album habit up (well 'try', it's not like it's hard, just should do it more often).
Dunno what my record would be, but I have listened to music all day a few times. I know there has been days when I've been sick and had a day off and did nothing but listen to music/read/net etc and I did at least 15+ albums in a 24 hour period.
The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand and Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago have just finished owning me. Next up: Sumner McKane - Two If By Sea.
Hot combo. All major rapers. Do you have Sumner McKane- Night Glooming? If so an up would be awesome. I have searched everywhere and I love North, Two and What.
Thanks dude, it's much appreciated, I'm going on the hunt for them now :) And agreed on that vampire weekend record, i only got halfway through the 1st song before i deleted the album. That record really fucked me off for some reason, lol.
No problems, ask if you want more suggestions and yeah VW was pitiful. I listened to Black Bonzo then Allman Brothers then Earthless after that to gradually raise the level higher after that shit.

Sumner McKane- North, then When- Psychedelic Wunderbaum which I haven't spun in ages, awesome experimental electronic album.

Just finished Mastodon's Leviathan, always loved that album. One of my favourites. Now moving on to some prog with Morte Macabre - Symphonic Holocaust, then Premiata Forneria Marconi - Per Un Amico

I don't have it, can't really find anything by him either (except on DD). If I ever come across it I'll give you a heads-up. Still have to grab North too, actually I'm going to do that right now. There's also this other disc... 'Night Blooming Cereus'. Have you heard that?

Now playing Talk Talk - Laughing Stock, after that I'll go for North.

How are Shining and Slowdive btw? Just looked them up bit since I took a break, haven't heard Shining yet, seems interesting though, and Slowdive sounds pretty awesome. Think I'm going to grab some of their stuff. Souvlaki a good starting point?

Souvlaki is indeed a good starting point. One of the best of the Shoegazing genre.

Current 93 - The Teeth Of The Winds Of The Sea

Both pretty good bands. Shining (Norway) are an experimental rock band, whose last two albums "Grindstone" and "In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster" are really good. The first two are not bad. The newest "Grindstone" is probably my favorite. I overlooked it a bit last year and didn't give it enough time, but it's proven to be quite good over time. Slowdive are great, one of the better shoegaze bands. Souvlaki is fantastic, their best imo and probably the best way to start. All 3 albums are awesome. But yeah start with "Souvlaki". About to put on Grails- Doomsdayer's Holiday another 08 release I haven't given enough time, same deal with Moss- Sub Templum which I will probably play afterwards.
