i could never really get into trad metal. i pretty much went straight from Led Zeppelins stairway to heaven, to Death and obituary, so i pretty much skipped all of that

Actually no, i didnt. Learn how to comprehend what you read son. What i clearly implied was that Led Zeppelin mainly influenced this ...

I'd personally say the first five Led Zeppelin albums are great, whereas though I like Rod Evans era Deep Purple they don't really begin their Metal mastery until 1970 and even then, in my opinion, their era of greatness isn't a long one.

Oh and you definitely implied something like that with your underhanded Aerosmith remark.

While i prefer the Mark II big three from 70-72. I still think that most of their discog is rather strong all the way up to and including Perfect Strangers. I also like some of their stuff from the 90's and their last two were pretty good too.
