Ok, so I'm purchasing the Iconoclast disc through the NB website and thought I'd add some stablemates to the order. Are there any albums from other (lesser known) bands in the same genre that are worth checking out? I heard a couple of sound grabs from Scar Symmetry and I'm liking what I hear.

If you're up for some no-frills power metal, I think Sabaton's Primo Victoria is a solid bet. Skyclad's Folkémon was on Nuclear Blast too, but I don't know if you can actually order it from them?

I think a lot of people here like Therion too, but honestly I don't know much about them.

Some good albums on NB:
Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time
Heavy layered power metal with good melodies.

Bal-Sagoth - The Chthonic Chronicles
Unique and cheesy symphonic "black metal", I guess.

Demonoid - Riders of the Apocalypse
Solid death metal. Not the best sound maybe. Last 3 tracks are amazing.
Arrival of the Horsemen
End of our Times
Death

Hypocrisy - The Arrival
Very good death metal album.

Keep of Kalessin - Armada
Their only good album, but it's also very good.

Omnium Getherum - New World Shadows
One of the best albums of 2011. One of the best melodeath albums too.

Sonata Arctica - The Days of Grays
Extremely cheesy, but crack cocaine for anyone with a weakness for clear and catchy melodies. Like me.

Therion - Any album on NB
All of them, with the exception of Gothic Kabbalah, takes a while to get into. I enjoy basically their whole discography.

Wintersun
Already recommended, but +1 ;)
