 I have nearly given up on it. A year unemployed. Not looking good now. So I'm pursuing other options. Their loss, I guess.

Try being out for a year and a half being a home owner, and having everybody you owe money to crawling up your @ss like a rabid tapeworm.
This isn't the greatest time to be looking, and I DO wish you luck. Being unemployed sucks, and nearly cost me my life...

^ Very well then, looks like we'll end up driving buses on the other side of the world.

Yes, but did you know that or google it?

Because if you knew it off the top of your head, you rule more than most of the rest of this forum. :kickass:

And if you google'd it, at least you now know and can yell it out at concerts/in traffic.

Actually I could remember the song's name with some effort, obviously those lyrics are unforgettable :kickass: but I totally forgot the band's name/album (that's where google came into play heh :heh:).

Shit man, I feel for you. Literally. Both of my parents own their own businesses and the pressure is ON me to get a job and succeed ASAP. The loans are also coming in.

It was better until our fucked up economy here started sliding into the shitter. I guess I should be happy to have a job in my chosen field. I'm still making half of what I used to.... : (

Don't rush into anything, but I can tell hours of stories about not having the right certifications, not enough experience, too much experience, over qualified etc. etc. Main thing is to keep plugging away at it, and TRY to not let the lack of instant success bring you down... Shit, I'd hire you here if I could!

I'm at work right now, just took off my shoes and my feet fucking stink. That's some rank shit right there :erk:
/Pops head into cube:
Dude! <------ala the Budweiser commercials

Time to get some odoreaters, or a fresh pair of socks :ill:

about this job convo.. ive never even heard of sending gifts to "show appreciation" to the interviewer, is that a new thing in the states or has it been around a while??

NEVER ever done that, and I've been working for 30 years....
I DO send thank you cards and/or e-mails, however.....

Man, I just went to a coffee shop show to support 2 of my friends who were playing there and they asked me to play ! I was extremely surprised and unprepared but I went up there and played for about an hour. I played a lot of classical instrumental stuff and I also sang and winged acoustic versions of 2 songs I wrote and sang Watching over me cause I knew how to play it haha. I also played Incantations of the Apprentice acoustic version ! People liked it.
People clapped, it was pretty cool. Pretty much my first time playing in front of people and I could feel my knees shaking, plus I really need to practice singing standing up because I sounded way different from when I sit and sing. But overall, I really enjoyed it. Plus the owner of the coffee shop payed us and my friends gave me $5 ! Woo ! Getting payed for having fun ! lol

Man, my friend has a Taylor acoustic, not only does it sound great but it plays really good. Real nice action on it and getting to the higher register is pretty easy compared to other acoustic guitars.

Taylors rule, but be picky, my last one I owned was out of the box with a cracked fretboard :erk: Took about 2 weeks to get/find another one....

Ouch !

I've latley been thinking of getting an acoustic guitar. I've been playing quite a few and I really like the Takamine $1000+ guitars, but I have to be realistic. lol
Today I played this Yamaha APX 500 and it's $300 so I thought cheap. When I played it, it felt pretty damn nice and it sounded decent for $300. I really like the feel for it and it has low action but sounds pretty good, plus it also has electronics and it's smaller sized compared to other acoustic guitars and fits on my body snug.

Yamahas are good for the money (their lower end classical guitars are fantastic for what you pay for). If you want something that, in my opinion, plays as well if not better than the vast majority of the Taylor, Takamine, Martin, etc. guitars that I've played, check out Breedlove. They can be had at very reasonable prices too.

I have played a few Martins and to be honest, I don't understand the hype/very high price. None of them felt as good to me as my Alvarez. It seems like the only reason they are still business is because people like Eric Clapton play them.
